Pours a very dark ruby with a small khaki head. Lots of dates and plums on the nose, some caramel, molasses, a bit of spice, and red berries. Again strong plums and dark fruit on the taste, molasses, toffee, bready malt notes, and a nice earthy spice flavor. This is a doozie of a quad, quite well rounded though.

Pours a murky black, fairly cloudy looking. Thin but firm tan head. Nose is charred banana bread smothered in syrup. Greasy but dense mouthfeel that finishes satisfyingly sweet and clean. Toffee soaked raisins and demera weary sugar. Fairly one way sweetness, no rich backboard. Can’t shake the banana maltiness throughout but doesn’t build. The finish is a clean light bubblegum sweetness. Pretty good but not a wordly.

Bottle, Feb Tasting, Cheers Craig

Bottle at the Quadfest. Aroma of chocolate and molasses. Pours dark brown with good clarity and a small film of white head. Taste is molasses, raisins, with a caramel chocolate finish (and subsequent belches). Very tasty brew. A pleasure to try it.

Bottle poured a dark ruby brown color with a cap of thick tan head. Aroma has dark fruit, rich malt, Belgian yeast, and some candi sugary. Mouth feel is medium with lower side carbonation. Flavor has super rich malts, dark fruit, Belgian yeast, and brown sugar sweetness.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle with foil poured into a trappist glass. Pours dark brown with light brown hightlights and small beige head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is dark candy sugar, syrupy texture, and little lacing. Taste is dark candy sugar and some dark fruit (mostly fig). Good quad, but not my favorite.

1/22/14. 750mL bottle thanks to Brad! Murky brown pour with a nice frothy tan head that fades. Dark fruits and molasses on the aroma, a bit of maple in a way, caramel, malty, mild yeast character. Nice flavor, lots of dark fruits, molasses, toasted caramel, a hint of metal. Tasty.

Brown bread, wine, raisins, dark fruit, and molasses in the aroma. Flavor starts sweet and bready, with apple, raisin, and caramel. Some fruit bitterness, spice, and alcohol in a dry finish. This is a great representation of a great beer style. If you’re in the mood to treat yourself, this is a fine choice.
