Bottle @ Welcome back old spice tasting. Small sample. The aroma has raisins, some porto tones, bit dust, bit chalk. Clear, dark red-brown coloured beer with a big off-white head, gusher. The taste is sweet, has caramel and raisins, is somewhat dusty. Bit alcoholic. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish amber, with a rocky off-white head. Dark dried fruits (raisin, date, prune), candy sugar, belgian yeast, spice, roasted nuts, aged sherry, toffee, and with a long, dry finish. Abv is hidden, just a pleasant warmth. Very good quad, I will definitely buy more of this.

750ml bottle in a wine glass. Pours deep brown/ruby with a beige head. Aroma of rich caramel and toffee and lightly nutty malts, some spicy yeast, light notes of dark fruits, hints of bitterness. Flavor the same with a great blend of everything. Smoother texture. A solid quad.

750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled in late 2012. Pours lightly cloudy dark ruby red color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, fig, pear, apple, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, brown bread, clove, pepper, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of malt and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge caramel, molasses, raisin, prune, fig, toast, toffee, biscuit, pear, apple, dark bread, light chocolate, clove, pepper, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, caramel, toast, toffee, molasses, dark bread, light chocolate, biscuit, candi sugar, clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Absolutely incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark malt and fruit/spicy yeast ester flavors; with an amazing malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible Quadrupel style! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

From a shared 75cl bottle at RBNG-14. Pours deep amber with an off-white head. Sweet , caramelly and fruity aroma with mild malty notes and noticeable alcohol. Smooth, but too sweet for me. (2014-02-15 - Grand Tasting, Fredriksten festning, Halden)

Thin tanned head. Almost clear dark ruby colored body. Rich malt nose. Fresh sourish-sweet with dark creamed caramel, tinned dark fruits, bread-crust and some fine herbal tones. Full-bodied. Smooth and creamy in the mouth. Big dark caramelly malt base. Plummy fruitiness. Rounded roastiness. Spice and cellar notes. Warming, long gently roasty-sweet ending. Really good stuff. [Shared bottle at Grand Tasting, RBNG2014]
