Bottle. Pours a dark reddish amber, with a rocky off-white head. Dark dried fruits (raisin, date, prune), candy sugar, belgian yeast, spice, roasted nuts, aged sherry, toffee, and with a long, dry finish. Abv is hidden, just a pleasant warmth. Very good quad, I will definitely buy more of this. BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Plum-skin pour with hints of scarlet, crimson, and garnet at its edges. The nice fluffy eggshell head diminished to a wisp and ring relatively quickly. Chocolate covered raisins, Belgian yeast, candied dates, fig, brown sugar, molasses, and a touch of vanilla. Nose is sweet and shows tons of dark fruit accompanied by alcohol. Flavor is quite complex, despite its age. Warming. Can’t wait for this after AleSmith’s barrel treatments! These guys simply don’t miss! They, once again, demonstrated why they are my favorite brewery! adrian910ss (2572) - Doylestown, PA, USA - FEB 23, 2013
750 ml bottle. Pours a deep and dark ruby red amber with a medium sized beige/light brown head. Aroma of candied malts, cloves, dark fruit, molasses and Belgian yeast. Taste is much the same as the aroma. RedCloud (129) - Rhode Island, USA - MAR 8, 2013
Pours a blushing port-wine red, with a few fingers of pale, corn- yellow head. Lacing is thick with a sheet of fine bubbles. Nose is of over-ripe banana, with very mild notes of spice. Taste starts with lightly ripened banana and light molasses, with highlights of caramel and even some faint shiraz dryness on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium to full, with a little bit of carbonation. Niko100 (2913) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Dark cider/brown color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, dark fruit, & some clove; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, caramel/toffee, rich dark fruit (notably plums & figs), raisons, and some chocolate; Smooth warm finish; Nicely balanced & complex; Wow - great stuff.

Great big nose, full of raisans and rich candy sugar. Dark mahogony pour with a wispy head. Sweet rich, big malty punch. Great quad wheresyourball (572) - El Cajon, California, USA - APR 14, 2013
Bottle shared with friends, poured into a tulip. Pours dark brown with a medium head. Nose is dark fruits, bread, caramel, candy; flavor follows, sticky sweet and rich. Very good. bbbeer (816) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 20, 2013
Beautiful mahogany red-brown with medium small tan head. Aroma seemed a little strange (chalky?) at first but then straightened out with dark fruits, caramel-like malts. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is there for warming but unintrusive. Flavor is complex, sweet mostly but finish is relatively dry. Like a molasses-laced loaf of bread, with raisins, a little chocolate and spice. One of the best American quads I’ve had. Mrnoluv (354) - long beach, California, USA - APR 21, 2013
You can smell the alcohol, the spices are perfect, IBU is very low imo, which is good, the aftertaste is smooth, not harsh. Could use a little more sweetness, not sure if anyone else agrees but I even taste a hint of pepper?I love this beer! Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 1, 2013
This one poured a semi murky dark red to brown color with a small beige head. Aroma was dark fruits, lightly burnt sugar, dark candy sugar, chocolate, yeast and mild spice. Flavor started with a plummy yeasty grapey taste, followed by belgianesque spicey middle, and finished with a nice chocolately and roasty conclusion. An excellent American version of the style.
