Nice dark red ale. Citrusy flavor then finishes off with a nice bready, creamy malt. Very tasty! ericbranscum (18) - - SEP 12, 2017

Well shit, after a day of downing beers at Societe, I decided I needed to cap it off with 2 California Amber Ales. I double fisted a bomber of Evil Dead Red alongside Smog City’s Sabre-Tooth Squirrel. When family offers you free beer, it’s only polite to take advantage. Never mind the fact that I had to shrug off some disapproving glances from my immediate family members. This particular bottle of Evil Dead Red was a bit old but the essential character was still there. Fat, rich malts with big notes of caramel and chocolate. It finishes off with dank, earthy West Coast style hops - grapefruit pith, grass, and pine. Like the film that inspired it, this brew deserves its cult status. Malty pine hoppy nose. Pours a dark copper amber with a thick foamy off white head. Retention forever. Leaves a thick coating on the glass as it slowly fades. Smooth mouthfeel with a crisp slightly bitter finish. A hint of caramel. A fair hit of pine and some earth. Pretty solid.

Bottle at THT tasting. Old note. The aroma has caramel, cardamom, fruity tones. Bit hazy, amber-red coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, has caramel, spice. Nice one. orbit (135) - Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 18, 2017
Beautiful beer! Soft and smooth taste with some caramel notes and flowery touches, full round taste that fills the whole palate. One of the best beers I’ve tasted lately. PorterPounder (8183) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 25, 2017
Brought back from San Francisco by my son - thanks! Medium copper pour, bone colored head, nice lacing. Aroma has a very subtle sourness to it, some cherry-like fruity sweetness. Solid flavor, some caramel sweetness, hints of cherry fruitiness. light underlying citrus bitterness, Thick, creamy mouthfeel. Solid amber ale, as expected from Alesmith. Bottle. Pour is dark copper/tan with a large bubbly off-white head. Notes of pine resin, caramel sauce, semi-sweet fruit, and earth. Finish is very sweet but balanced nicely by the hop bitterness. Big flavor and mouthfeel for an amber ale. Niko100 (2968) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 24, 2017
Nice cider/ruby color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted caramel malt, pine hops, & fruit/citrus; Flavor of slight roasted sweet malt, caramel, spicy hops, fruit, and some nuts; Finish is dry & slightly bitter; Nicely balanced; Good.
