This beer is Money! Super hoppy red. Very bitter and backed with lots of caramel sweetness to balance it out. Its a shame it isn’t around more often
DATE: January 14, 2018... OCCASION: coming down after a thrillingly improbable finish to the Vikings/Saints game... GLASSWARE: Hop Devil nonick... pours a dark ruby red body, murky and foreboding--too dense to see through... the thick, creamy off-white head sits like a velvet cake frosting, and it laces like a stormy sky, and plateaus as a two-finger mesa--attractive! Immediate resin, spruce, and earthy malts leave the best impression; secondary scents of toasted malts that suggest soon-to-be-born bread, a little yeast funk, and some vegetable... traces of citric aroma, but not as much as expected... a creamy, frothy, breathy ale that is smooth, soft and extremely drinkable--nothing dead here, though a bit of butter accompanies the finish... a lingering, pleasant experience.... the flavor is resin, mango, peach, and light pine... the caramel promised is secondary, with the sweetness blunted by vegetable and toasted bread malts... I like the overall experience, with its creamy comfortably encouraging the next sip, and each sip lacking a bite at a middle-of-the-road ABV... ultimately, a beer that probably pairs with Autumn well; here in January, it stands well but not out--other ambers have been maltier, sweeter, hoppier.... this does enough to be in the second tier of that conversation... gringo332 (649) - Richardson, Texas, USA - JAN 3, 2018

Piana obfita trwała, zdobi szkło. Kolor czerwony mętny. Aromat niesamowicie intensywne owoce, truskawki, poziomki karmel. J_man (1025) - Tustin, California, USA - DEC 4, 2017
Strong toasted wood and molasses aromas along with equally strong hoppy notes from a crystal clear dark amber body with a reddish tinge. The taste is immediately sweet toffee and dark caramel quickly followed by a rush of green grassy and pine hop bitterness that balance each other and also fight each other for dominance. In the end, they do reach an equilibrium and settle to a woody aftertaste with a lingering bittersweet chocolate note. This tastes like a bigger beer than it is and it's one delicious monster. 22 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, ivory head, with moderate lacing, over a clear deep copper (SRM 18) body........nose is toasted malts, with mild bread, pine, citrus from the hops.......taste is slightly caramel sweet, with further toasted malt tones, pine, resin citrus notes from the hops finishing with moderate hop bitterness, balance slightly to the hops......mouth feel, medium light body, minimal alcohol, moderate carbonation. This is a lovely easy drinking beer, with adequate complexity to be nicely interesting. BJCP 8/3/16/4/7

Pours a wonderful deep brownish red from a bottle, nice light tan head with beautiful lacing. Aroma is piney with a faint lemon/orange, flavor is similar built over a fine caramel sweetness. Very well-balanced, an excellent representative for the style, which I feel is not often done well. Very good beer. mezr (158) - California, USA - OCT 31, 2017
Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Beautiful red-amber with a minimal tan and creamy head. Aroma is caramel and a bit earthy. Medium body, soft carbonation and a bit creamy on the palate. Moderately sweet with a nice bitter finish that's not overly long. nihtila (4005) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 28, 2017

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2017 Nice dark red ale. Citrusy flavor then finishes off with a nice bready, creamy malt. Very tasty! MetalNHopHead (2264) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - JUL 12, 2017
Well shit, after a day of downing beers at Societe, I decided I needed to cap it off with 2 California Amber Ales. I double fisted a bomber of Evil Dead Red alongside Smog City’s Sabre-Tooth Squirrel. When family offers you free beer, it’s only polite to take advantage. Never mind the fact that I had to shrug off some disapproving glances from my immediate family members. This particular bottle of Evil Dead Red was a bit old but the essential character was still there. Fat, rich malts with big notes of caramel and chocolate. It finishes off with dank, earthy West Coast style hops - grapefruit pith, grass, and pine. Like the film that inspired it, this brew deserves its cult status.
