COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally a faint idea dreamt up by Tony Gwynn and Peter Zien, the now imperial version of their collaboration, San Diego Pale Ale .394, will make an appearance in our 20th Anniversary Specialty Release Series. All proceeds from this beer will go towards raising funds for the Tony Gwynn Museum which will honor this hall of famer and raise money for TAG (Tony & Alicia Gwynn Foundation) at AleSmith’s new facility.

HALL OF FAME IMPERIAL SAN DIEGO PALE ALE .394 (ABV 9%)

AleSmith’s Hall of Fame version of the legendary Tony Gwynn .394 San Diego Pale Ale pays tribute to the one and only Mr. Padre and his commitment to excellence. Just like its predecessor, this "imperial" or "double" .394 is bursting with even more American hops, lending the beer a diverse palate of citrus, tropical fruit, and pine. Tony envisioned this beer in early 2014 and AleSmith is honored to make another one of his dreams come true.

"Tony Gwynn was incredibly proud to be a member of the San Diego community; he impacted lives all over the world. He was the heart, soul, and flavor of San Diego for so many years and now you can taste his passion with every sip." - Alicia Gwynn

Flarra PQ .

Draft at the Capital Ale House in Short Pump, VA The ale poured a cloudy amber color in tulip glass. Off white head quickly dissipated, with some lacing, The ale has a medium body with average carbonation. The aroma was complex with orange peels and pine straw.. Nice alcohol warmth but not overpowering. Very balanced. The taste has some grapefruit and other citrus. The finish was clean and with pale malts lingering in the aftertaste. Well made!

W aromacie przyjemny karmel, trochę mocno dojrzałych cytrusów (ale nie skórki), jakieś brzoskwinie, troszeczkę igieł. W smaku dojrzałe śliwki, karmel, trochę alkoholu. Fajne.

No, jednak trochę słodko.

beatifully designed 66cl bottle.
clear yellow, small white head.
aroma is hops dominated. flowers, citrus, a little pine, some exotic, but overall dry and refreshing.
flavor is sweet malty with a good bunch of bitter hoppy pine balance. some more flowery notes as well as faint exotic fruity notes also in there. It could be a bit more intense, it's almost so subtle that you can taste the alc. flavor. Still a farly good and quite dry imperial ipa.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, light ivory head, with moderate lacing, over a slightly hazy dark gold (SRM 6) body......nose is multiple fruits, with orange, tangerine, lemon tones, light mango, slight pine, mild malt notes, balance to the hops......taste is lightly malt sweet, with hints of bread, multiple citrus fruits, including orange, light lemon, mild lime, also mango, hints of pineapple, also light pine, finishing with mild hop bitterness, balance to the hops......mouth feel, medium sticky body, alcohol warmth present, low carbonation. This is an incredibly lovely, complex, super easily drinkable, example of the recent evolution of the I/DIPA style in the American craft industry. Like Belgian Triples it is a bit dangerous as the alcohol is rather hidden by primarily the hop and less so the malt backbones. BJCP 9/3/16/4/8

Light haze on this orange - gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and smooth. Very light malts for a DIPA, a pleasant creamy sweetness from them. Decent piney hop. Piney orange and mild hop spice nibbling away in the background. Traces of citric peel and tropical fruits. Smooth finish. A pleasant and drinkable DIPA but there is no fireworks for me.

Kran w Muted Horn. Intensywny aromat chmielowy z delikatnym słodowym tłem. W smaku chmielowo, zaznaczona goryczka.

Tap @Beer Temple, Amsterdam.
Medium head, orange/amber colour, lightly cloudy, nice lacing. Aroma: spruce, grapefruit peel, orange, pine. Bitter taste, full body, bitter finish, average carbonation. Nicely refreshing, despite being quite strong.
