COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horny Devil is our interpretation of a Belgian-style Golden Ale. Brewed with authentic Belgian ingredients including candi sugar and a Trappist yeast strain, its fruity and spicy aromas include notes of orange, banana, and peppercorns. Coriander seeds add refreshing citrus notes which meld seamlessly with the beer’s delicate malt. Horny Devil finishes with a lively carbonation and a refreshingly dry finish.

@ Alesmith: Hazy golden amber color with a small white head. Aroma and flavor are pretty similiar. Sweet and fruity. Fair amount of spices (mostly coriander) some yeastiness. At 10% the alcohol hides well with a smooth warming sensation.

WOW! I am really surprised how average this turned out to be. I always expect more from Alesmith. Slightly dry and not very fruity. Alcohol is well hidden. Otherwise, really pedestrian.

I saved this for my #1700 best i have at the time.Cloudy amber color, small head that faded quickly to leave nothing behind. The aroma was malty and sweet with a nice fruity side juicyfruit in some ways, spicy and quite floral. The flavor was fantastic, considering it’s been awhile since i had an Alesmith or any really good brew.Nice citrusy side straight away, with a nice spiciness coming on towrds the middle and alsting to the end.The alcohol manages to make a decent appearance but not getting in the way of the other flavors. This was a damn fine brew and well worth having a few more for later trials as it ages.

75 cl bottle. Yeast in bottom. Amber unclear colour with a great white head. Very delicate aroma of sweetness and coriander. Also great taste of coriander and sweetness that ends warming from the alcohol.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2006 Golden amber with decent white head. Aroma has lots of sweet yeasty fruity notes up front, almost bubblegum like. Strange but good. Tons of candy sugar and coriander. Faint alcohol in the background. Flavor is all kinds of yeasty fruit up front, banana, apple, prune fig. Some residuel sugar and spice through the middle and finish. Just the right amount of sweetness. Long coriander aftertaste. Nice smooth, oily mouthfeel. Somewhat warming over the course of the bottle. Has become my belgian of choice when I need one. Wish I could score individual categories higher, to better reflect how much I enjoy this brew.

Devil’s night at Mullmans. Pours a hazy light amber with an ok head. Initial aroma almost reminded me of of some marijuana, then the citrus and coriander are noticed later. Flavor is spicy with lots of belgian yeast, and a ton of coriander. Mouthfeel almost tastes a bit salty to me, but still pretty smooth.

GABF 2005.
