750 ml bottle. Cracked open on New Years Eve. Pours an oily, jet black color and topped by a small, frothy, tan colored head of foam that slowly settles into a thin film. Nice streaks of lace coat the glass. The aroma is really nice showing dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, dark fruits, vanilla, and dark roasted malts to make up the base. The coffee doesn’t overpower, but is perfectly integrated with the dark chocolate and malts while adding a nice fruity and nutty undertone. The flavor follows and is a perfect marriage between the dark chocolate, espresso, dark roasted coffee, and malts while a touch of vanilla and toasted nuts helps smooth things out. The coffee roast comes across dry and adds ample balancing bitterness. Full bodied, smooth, and almost chewy on the mouthfeel with balanced carbonation that leads to a smooth roasted coffee finish with no alcohol presence detected. Delicious stuff. Black with a small creamy brown head. Aroma is very coffee forward, smooth roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate, light earthy and hints of green peppers. Taste is light to medium sweet, soft roasted bitterness. Finish is sweet caramel, roasted coffee, hints of bitter dark chocolate, licorice, slight earthy. Medium to full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation.
Very good, the green pepper notes drags it down a bit though. More coffee forward than the BA one.
