3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear, deep reddish brown, excellent creamy foam top and lacing on the glass. Resinous hop aroma with a touch of dankness. Some fresh grain. Bitter flavor, resinous again, not much else going on. Not bad but it is one dimensional.
Pours dark amber from the bottle. The head is thick and frothy. Aroma is a mix of caramel and red berry. An interesting mix that works, unfortunately, more nauseating than pleasant for my taste. Taste is very sweet up front, turning tart, then finishing with a dry, mild bitterness. Finishes warm and lightly alcoholic. Body is thick and rich. Overall a wonderfully complex but ultimately cloying effort that fails to grow on me. HogTownHarry (6938) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2017
March 12, 2015 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs and mabel - bomber. Looks perfect - bright and deep ruby with a large lasting tan creamy head. Pale ale aroma with light rye and extra roast - lush, and a bit acidic. Taste is like a drier ESB with some resin bitterness, a little sweet but the bitterness increases. Slick, light, airy, medium finish - a bit of a black IPA linger - mild roast and green resin bitterness. Decent. SeniorZozo (1863) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUL 25, 2017

Brought back from San Francisco by my son - thanks! Hazy, tea-colored pour, bone colored head, nice lacing. Aroma has a very solid sweetness to it with some juicy fruit gum candy-like notes. Solid flavor, some caramel sweetness, hints of cherry fruitiness. light underlying citrus bitterness, Thick, creamy mouthfeel. Solid amber ale, as expected from Alesmith. rougeau13 (3022) - Richmond, Texas, USA - MAY 30, 2017
Bottle. Dark clear red with a resilient beige head. Lacing is fairly heavy. Surprisingly hoppy aroma with caramel, chocolate, toast, earth and flowers. Moderately sweet, toasty and nicely bitter. Smooth and medium bodied with a little dryness. Very nice amber. melush (4144) - SPAIN - MAY 29, 2017
