From bottle, blind #10, courtesy of thewolf. Pours dark brown, hazy, and with a small off-white head. Dense wineous, wooden and light cheesy aroma. Solid nutty note too. Solid dark caramelish, wineous and walnut wooden. Overripe fruit, light nutty and bitter finish - light acidic touch too. Ungstrup (37561) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - FEB 18, 2005
An unclear amber beer with no head. The aroma is of alcohol, bourbon, and oranges. The flavor is very sweet with alcohol burning the throat and bourbon, that lingers on the tongue. This is not my beerstyle, and the regular Old Numbskull is not really me, but this was one good beer. joergen (28106) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 15, 2005

Bottled, thanks to BierKönig for sharing. Nut brown, clear. Rich aroma of wood, vanilla and asparagus. Very sweet and full bodied with pleasant soft mouthfeel. Very bitter finish. An enormous beer with lots of bourbon character. The sweetness however overloads my senses and the expected sensations does not take place. Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 24, 2005
UPDATED: OCT 9, 2006 (Bottle 75 cl) Hazy amber golden with a handsome, creamy head. Sweetish, vinous aromas. Extremely full-bodied, sweet with tons of malt and honeyish notes. Touches of wood surrounding a base of dried fruit - raisins for sure. Very, very complex and delicate. A grand beer indeed. 120805 and 061006 madmitch76 (24791) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 21, 2009
UPDATED: SEP 22, 2012 3rd September 2008. Bottle 170/223 2005 release. The salty malt of the unbarreled survives. Carbonation is lower and in this barrel aged version the sweet vanilla comes through strong and with a touch of woody dryness. A different beast to it’s source beer! THE Barleywine tasting. 2007 bottle. Hazy red brown beer with a good tan head. Musty cheese on the nose with lots of malt! A light airy palate, semi dry. Nice dark toffee, not too sweet. Trace of bitterness. Trace of salt and a little bitter marmalade. Finishes semi dry and warm. Good stuff but preferred the 2005.
Bottle courtesy of - you guessed it - ygtbsm94, thanks! Deep clear amber color, flat. Aroma of perfume base, brandy and caramel candy. Taste is hot and spiced mulled apple brandy. Interesting. cgarvieuk (24462) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 2, 2008
UPDATED: JUL 25, 2014 Bottle at home with Tom and Royce ... Big thanks to Ughsmash for this 2005 bottle 68/225 Brown ... typical barly wine nose with just that hint of spirit(bourboun) ... sweet toffee... loads of vanilla ... but again the Bourbon is showing a bit too much... and a wee bit too sickly for me... Oh dear us scots dont seem to have taken to this that well... Like tom im not sure the barrel ageing has helped so real interested to see how the non BA is... Its got a great initial falvour, but its not draging me back to lifting the glass. very odd.
Bottle at home... Deep brown.. Thin tan head... Soft sweet toffee.. Sweet caramel malts nose... Dark roast.. Massive coconut... Dark malts... Soft sweet toffee fruit... Soft mellow malts... Sweet vanilla... Too sweet... Too much vanilla coconut... 3.4
