Caramel and toffee notes abound in this deep copper-colored American Barleywine-style ale alongside toasted malt and a hint of ripe dark fruits. Old Numbskull showcases malt sweetness, intense American hops, and an aggressive bitterness. Extremely well-balanced, the full-bodied mouthfeel and assertive hop profile leads into a deceptively smooth finish. Old Numbskull can be enjoyed now or laid down for years to come.

400th reviewed beer. Kanpai! (Japanese for cheers!) Big, fat hops greet the nose with a subtle caramel and oat malt behind it. Brownish tan appearance with a thick foam and beautiful lacing against the glass. Remarkably smooth texture with intensely complex flavors of oats, dough, butter, and earthy hops upfront falling into a genius melted caramel, anise, sage and massive alcohol filled finish. Overall, Old Numbskull is truly a magnificent undertaking boasting immense flavors and stupendous balance. I’d give this an A+ rating.

Mooie oranje kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt zoetig, crème, herfstfruit. Smaakt zoetig, fruitig, vanille, crème, kruiden.

Bottle enjoyed over Labor Day weekend. Dark toffee malts, wheat, coffee, figs and plums. Surprisingly light body and duration but alcohol is silky smooth and sweet. Burnt fruit finish with spice.

W smaku i zapachu rodzynki, karmel, amerykańskie chmiele. Piwo bez wad, poprawne, w stylu. Ale po nitach spodziewałem się czegoś co wyrwie mnie z butów. Tak się jednak nie stało.

Tap (One More Beer Festival 2017, Kraków). Piana średnioobfita, żółta, drobnopęcherzykowa, redukuje się do warstwy, koronkowanie przeciętne. Barwa bursztynowa, opalizujące. Aromat intensywny, karmel, czerwone owoce. Goryczka średnia. W smaku czerwone owoce, rodzynki, figi, alkohol. Pełnia średnia, nasycenie średnie.

Próbka wypita na One More Beer Festival. W aromacie mocno przejrzałe owoce tropikalne, dużo słodyczy. W smaku oczywiście słodkie, leciutki karmel, dalej sporo owoców, alkohol nieźle ułożony. Dobre.

Caramel and toffee like hell in the aroma. Quite pretty brown colour with a nice head. Alcohol in the mouth not dominant but noticeable in the throat. Sweet, rasinlike with a heavy hopping.

Strangely light like partial solar eclipses, in both aroma and taste. Amber clear pour with ok head. Caramel and some oak. Lots of booze. Not a sugary mess at least. Pretty easy drinking. Tap at Rustico.

Tap at Multi Qlti - Kraków. Appearance - deep amber colour, nice head. Aroma -caramel, toffee, roasted sugar, dried fruits, grapes. Maybe a little bit herbal and floral. Taste - rather sweet, - full of dried fruits and caramel, some honey and grapes, a little bit alcoholic. Full body, smooth, soft carbonation. Nice and complex barley wine.

A 10 ounce pour on tap at Rogue Wetbar at Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver. The color reminds me a bit of burnt sugar. Decent amber golden head and complex aroma of hops, malted grain and fruit. The big hop note is evident, followed quickly by heavily malted barley and notes of ripened dried fruit. Bitter hop finish and aftertaste. This here’s a winner, folks! 4.3

Dark and semi cloudy copper color with a light sand colored creamy head of foam. Packed to the seams with caramel and toffee. Some aggressive hops cut through the heavy malt charge. Some dried fig in the mix as well.
