mcberko (18434) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 12, 2017
On tap at AleSmith, in the Barrel Aged room, pours a deep dark brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out decadent bourbon barrels upfront, with lots of vanilla and molasses. Flavour is no less decadent, with loads of bourbon, vanilla, molasses and treacle. Sweet, but not cloying. Masterwork of barrel aging. Fantastic.

2014. Definitely sweet leaning with raisins and barrel dominance. Still quite smooth and decadent if not terribly complex.

Bottle purchased in September 2016 and traveled all the way from Alesmith in San Diego to Modra/Slovakia and we are enjoying this epic brew right now having Christmas dinner. Overall it is a grand, colossal and epic beer!

ABUSEDGOAT (2793) - California, USA - DEC 1, 2016
Hazy darker chestnut color, moderate to small head, some lace/retention. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, darker dried fruits, caramel, brown sugar. Full bodied, moderately boozy, sweet finish, moderate alcohol. Quite pleasant.

beer_queue (145) - California, USA - NOV 13, 2016
2015 vintage. Deep, warm brown colors with burgundy highlights. So much dark fruits in the aroma that it’s hard to pick up anything else. Tastes fruity as hell, too. A lot of raisins, plums, black grapes, figs, etc. Some herbs, molasses, licorice, oak, & vanilla in the far background. Booze stands out a lot at the end! Full body, sticky, low carbonation. Overall it’s good but somehow still disappointing. Expected much more balance & complexity but was just two-dimensional.
