Pours black with deep tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, nuts, oak barrels, vanilla, molasses, very very nice! Taste is an onslaught of chocolate and vanilla, followed by light sweet licorice and coffee bitter finish that lasts for days. Body is rich and creamy with soft carbonation. My favorite Speedway Stout! ansalon (3791) - Stockholm, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - NOV 15, 2014
Pours matte black almost black hole black with a very low tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, bourbon, muscovado sugar, hazelnuts. Taste is bloody amazing: well integrated coffee tones, dark chocolate, muscovado, sugar, bourbon, slight nutty notes. Mouthfeel is silky smooth with almost no carbonation. Perfection in every way and amazingly well balanced! charule (2257) - New York, New York, USA - NOV 11, 2014
Bottle thanks to Poolaga. Poured thick with constant tan head. Aroma of strong vanilla extract sweet molasses lighter coffee that’s dark roasty. Very light carb med thick bod. Taste is light bitter roasty coffee, still pretty bourbon forward. Killer Advocate_Ames (625) - Steubenville, Ohio, USA - OCT 28, 2014
Aged 1yr. Pours dark with a reddish hue underneath the ring of foam that hugs my glass. The head dissipated fast than I would have liked. The aroma is of sweet bourbon, sweet carmel candy, mild to medium intensity of roasted coffee, vanilla, chocolate, soft hints of dark fruit, and oak barrel scents. While tasting I get sweet bourbon, descent amounts of bitter roasted coffee, rich carmel malts, and a defined vanilla flavor. The finish is really balanced with a lasting semi dry booze taste with a fading sweetness that is overwhelmed by a moderate bitterness. Overall I really enjoyed this beverage. Mörk choklad i doften. Flytande choklad i perfekt balans med bourbon. Balans och världsklass, som så ofta med detta bryggeri. Sitter helt perfekt. Tack till Andreas.

Backlogged rating. The empty bottle is still sitting on my shelf of rare beers in the living room curio. Direct from the brewery via online pre-order. A fantastic beer in every sense; I’ve been lucky enough to try two bottles of this but yet to experience it on draft. Same fantastic oaky, bourbon-soaked coffee and chocolate aroma that follows suit with the flavor. The coffee bitterness in the flavor is much more mellow than the regular barrel-aged version. Sweet charred brown sugar, firewood, chocolate cherry and maple syrup blended in the flavor. Super smooth, velvety mouth-feel. Warming alcohol finish that rounds it all out. With a few years of age and less heat, this would be my only "5". All around a world-class imperial stout that Alesmith, yet again, has taken to a whole other level. God damn I am lucky to live in San Diego. VT (2527) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 28, 2014
750 ml bottle shared with the Quebec City crew. Pours black with a beige-brown head. Aroma is port wine, coffee, raisins, roasted hazelnut, dark chocolate, wood, vanilla. Flavor is dark chocolate, coffee, wood, liquor, hazelnut, roast. Finish is coffee, dark chocolate, liquor, bourbon, port wine. Lingering coffee and booze. Medium to full body, soft, velvety mouthfeel. Weak carbonation. Very awesome impy stout. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - AUG 2, 2014
Bottle at goulét brewery bus tour thanks Phil. Black pour with tan head. Black pour with tan head. Roasted, barrel, bourbon oak, chocolate and coffee flavors. Luk_ (243) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 2, 2014
From notes. Bottle. Black, almost completely opaque, pour with small dark brown head. Aroma is roasted grain an coffee, some discernable vegetal notes from the Kopi Luwak along with dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and spices. Taste is bourbon heat upfront, very roasted and bitter from hops or vegetal notes. Not my favourite type of stout but more drinkable than regular Kopi. Also, Alesmith’s base stout is world class quality, so it definitly helps.
