UPDATED: JUN 12, 2014 At a tasting, thanks DSG, small creamy head, very dark brown to black colour, , aroma of prunes, vanila and coconut with some almonds and coffee, flavour of dried fruits, roasted coffee, dark chocolate and chocolate liquor and some nuts. Nice but the barrel character is much too strong. wisdomsolo (472) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - JUN 8, 2014
Solid BA stout. Nice coffee aroma and flavor and not a ton of heat from the barrels. fluffy (2461) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - JUN 8, 2014

Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks troganmi for this bottle! Black with a foamy light brown head. Aroma of bourbon, coffee, vanilla, a bit of coconut, dark fruits and dark chocolate. Bittersweet flavor, liqueuer-like, with roast, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, bourbon, raisins, prunes and a bitterish, slightly alcoholic and slightly vinous finish. Full rounded mouthfeel. Great stuff. anders37 (27014) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAY 25, 2014

Bottle shared at the GTMW ticket line, pours pitch black with a very thin light brown head, the aroma is pretty nice, good amount of bourbon, vanilla and chocolate all mixed together, the coffee is fairly subtle but still nice, the flavor has a nice roasty front end with quite a bit of coffee and then some bourbon and oak in the finish, comes together nicely, abv is pretty well hidden. kathouse (1940) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - MAY 11, 2014
On tap at the brewery 05/10/14. I’m not sure I got the right beer, but this was NOT smooth and easy to drink. The Kopi Luwak coffee adds a distinctive acidity to the chocolate roast and strong bourbon. Dried fruits are not enough to counter the alcohol dryness. I’ll have to rate this again next year. ineedbeer (2255) - Oakland, California, USA - MAY 10, 2014
On tap at the brewery.
Ara is very balanced with quite a bit of chocolate and roast, but with complimentary medium light coffee notes and medium barrel character adding notes of bourbon and vanilla.
Pours black with a thick mocha head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges where it lingers. Faint lacing and fairly long legs.
Flavor has a nice medium roast note with moderate coffee character. Medium barrel notes with some light vanilla. Moderate chocolate character with some medium light bitterness and medium alcohol spice in the finish.
Mouthfeel is medium full to full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall a really nice barrel aged coffee stout with balanced notes of coffee, bourbon and the base beer. Nice vanilla and bourbon notes with a good coffee character. baraciisch (3371) - California, USA - MAY 10, 2014
Pitch black in color, tan mahogany head.... Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, cherry, espresso... Flavor is bourbon and vanilla initially, gives way to a very sweet coffee, berries, spicy kick on the finish... Amazing, so smooth rlgk (18844) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 5, 2014
