Very nice blend of speedways...the bourbon notes are lighter than in the full on barrel aged version, but, still very nice.
Pours an opaque black on tap with thin ring of bubbly tan head that leaves light lace. Aroma of lots of barrel, hint of the stout, also some light booze and vanilla. Taste follows, boozy barrel throughout. A little thinner than I thought it would be, but still really good. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - DEC 20, 2016
sampled at the brewery in that nifty new blending room. Lots of coffee with some bourbon flavors throughout. Nice brownie flavors, some vanilla and molasses flavors. Finish is coffee, molasses, with an alcohol warming taste. slowrunner77 (12844) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 24, 2014
"Not quite sure what they do with the blend. It’s obvious its at the least partially barrel aged, though much less extensive than the bourbon-barrel aged Speedway in bottles every year or two. All the great attributes of Speedway with more than a hint of bourbon, but not so much that it’s intrusive rgf001 (351) - Austin, Texas, USA - DEC 30, 2013
Coffee and oaked Bourbon aroma. Very black with brown head. Taste of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, alcohol, bourbon. Finishes a bit too sweet. Leighton (22307) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2013
Draft at Hamilton’s - San Diego. Pours black with a fine, foamy brown head. Smooth chocolate in the nose, soft roast, light burnt barrel. Medium sweet flavor with rich mocha, dirt, earth, light alcohol, bittersweet baking cocoa. Full bodied with fine carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Light warmth to finish, some chocoate cake, more mocha, baking cocoa, light coffee grounds. Great balance and depth. Exceptionally drinkable. Outstanding.

On cask at Beachwood BBQ for Woodshop earlier in the summer. Pours jet black with a foamy, medium-brown head; solid retention and lacing. Cocoa nibs, toasted marshmallows, and soft coffee in the aroma; some Baker’s chocolate underneath; soft and pillowy aromatics. Full, layers mouthfeel with light CO2; beautifully layered coffee, dark chocolate, and hints of caramel; delicious beer, with no sharp edges whatsoever. Lasting finish, showing cocoa and light coffee; slightly dry. I normally don’t care for coffee beers, but the Speedways tend to be an exception; a really nicely handled beer. dbarnold (1127) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - SEP 17, 2012
Huge barrel aged version. Rich in bourbon flavor and a ton of chocolate. Somewhat too boozy but still delicious. Would be a great version to age a couple years. GarrettB (1658) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 15, 2012
Winter 2011 - So, take the Speedway Stout: a superb beer in every way. Dark, well balanced flavors, boozy, and the perfect aperitif on a San Diego winter day. Now add coffee. Lots, and lots of dark, well roasted, oily coffee. Now you have the Brewer’s Blend BA Speedway Stout. Coffee unctuously writhes its way up from the glass, touching the nose and taking me back in memory to all my favorite coffee shops. It’s fresh and botanical, but also slow roasted and mouth watering. The taste is sudsy, and offers an additional coffee edge on top of the regular Speedway Stout - thick, and syrupy, but sharp with alcohol. Drinking this is like running your fingers through freshly ground coffee grounds, and just as satisfying. Good stuff, and a must for coffee and beer addicts. A black colored beer, with a dark beige head. The aroma of coffee, with some chocolate and vanilla notes with dark fruit. The taste is dry bitter of cofee, notes of chocolate and some vanilla, wood notes. A little spices in the back. The aftertaste is some sweet with expresso. larryLSB (533) - La Selva Beach, California, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Taster at the brewer. Poured dark brown with minimal ran head. Nose of coffee and chocolate. Sweet and thick taste a tad on the bitter side. Fantastic beer.
