4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Has all the great characteristics of the original Speedway but with a slight added chocolate bitterness that in my opinion takes away from the greatness of the original.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask at O’Brien’s (Night of a Million Zillion Speedways) during the second annual San Diego Beer Week in November 2010. Listed as "Madagascar Organic Fair Trade Cocoa Nibs Cask." Pours the normal pitch black but with absolutely no head. Aroma of dark organic earthy cocoa...leans more toward burnt/bitter than sweet. Flavor was quite different from the other samples...here rich cocoa dominates, very much like Hershey’s chocolate milk powder. Has a lingering flavor of burnt cocoa. Not as good as the other Speedways I sampled at O’Brien’s. (6, 569)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On cask @ O’brien’s Night of a Million Zillion Speedways. Not my favorite of the epic Speedway night, but still very good. Regular Speedway is very chocolaty to begin with and this just takes it over the edge.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at O’Briens. Typical black pour, small tan head. Chocolate... lots of milk chocolate, some coffee, cocoa powder, and sweetness. Certainly good, but it’s hard to shine when surrounded by other speedways.

’Brien’s: Dark as coal with a ring of light brown foam. Aroma is very chocolaty. Flavor is raw chocolate, strong coffee and a lasting, kinda harsh, bitter bakers chocolate finish. Medium body is rich with modest carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on cask at O’brien’s Night of a Million Zillion Speedways. Was able to get two samples of this one too The appearance is the usual Speedway deep black hue with a medium roasty brown head, a little bigger then the rest. The aromas are a bit of spiced coffee and some bitter bitter chocolate. The flavors are more of a mild roast common coffee, Very bitter coco flavors and a touch of oak. The mouth is more medium bodied. This variation was very disappointing. I though the coco nibs would add a more intense chocolate flavors and the coffee was just average compared to the others.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Served on cask, 1st rating of this brew, and first tick in a long time for me. Tried this today at Obrien’s amidst a sea of people and an unseasonably hot November evening. Pours black with a bubbly head. Nose is full of cocoa, a tad too much in the nose. In the taste the cocoa is even more overwhelming. Whats important to note with this beer is that it is still good, but appears worse in a lineup with better versions of Speedway.
