Draft sample at the speedway grand prix 2013. Pitch black pour, tan head, and some lacing. Smokey, chocolate fudge, peat, roasted malt, earthy, sweetness, and light smoked meat flavor. Crazy beer, well executed and delicious. mcberko (18956) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 9, 2013
On tap at AleSmith, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is quite herbal and spicy, with peppery notes and herbal tea. Flavour is very spicy and herbal, with spicy peppers, herbal tea, and roasted espresso notes. The spiciness is more pronounced than I thought - with a slight smokiness as well. Certainly unique, jus not the best variation. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 7, 2013
Tap at Alesmith for Speedway Grand Prix. Probably my #2 of the day after tasting 11 new versions of this phenomenal beer. Ridiculously savory smoked nose- incredible Native American plank smoked salmon, pine forest, black cherry pith, flourless chocolate cake, wet native tobacco. I mean smoked Speedway? Come on. Taste is spot on- no tannic tea. It’s all decadent sweet smoked charcuterie, sweet salmon jerky, smokey Bresaola. One behemoth of a beer. Out of this world assertive, powerful, successful. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 7, 2013
On tap at alesmith... Dark cola stout hue, lesser intense edges and topped with a light beige head...aroma of huge smoke and peat to pair alongside a fudgey chocolate. Boozy afterthought... Booze, peat, smoke, dark chocolate and fudge. Fuller bodied with a bit of an astringent backend. Little warming yet again. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - NOV 7, 2013
On tap at brewery. Black with a thin creamy tan head. Big smokey, peaty, leather, chocolate, and tea aroma. Thick bright palate. Tastes of peat, smoke, burnt coffee, leather, and tobacco with a bitter earthy finish.
