COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Vietnamese Speedway Stout: This variation of our Imperial Stout goes through a lengthy aging process in freshly used rye whiskey barrels and is then blended with an intensely rich coffee from Vietnam. The result is a luscious, complex brew with notes of spice, vanilla, oak cocoa, and caramel.

@ The brewpub in San Diego 18-2-19:Underbar fyllig med stora toner av choklad och med en subtil whiskeyton. Undebar munnkänsla

On tap at the brewery. Black with a small tan head. Smooth with whisky, oak, dark malt, chocolate and some coffee. The body was full and the finish long. Tasty.

On tap at AleSmith, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of whiskey, earthy notes and roasted malt. Flavour is complex as hell, with lots of rye whiskey, bourbon and caramel. Complex as hell, with lots of elegant layers. Phenomenal.

Bodney Towers bottleshare. Thanks to Manny G. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Fluffy dark malts, a little dry. Rich dark chocolate. Tangy fruity whiskey. Whiskey spice on the dry finish. Nice but didn't blow me away.

Pours black as night with low tan head. Aroma of coffee (duh), chocolate, light vanilla, rye barrels (yes indeed!). Taste is initial chocolate sweet followed by a long, lingering, absolutely massive fiery rye whisky finish. Very enjoyable, but honestly the coffee disappears a bit which is kind of a shame. Rich and creamy body with soft carbonation.

November 2017 - Bottle share in Hackney. Big thanks to MannyG. As 'AleSmith Rye Barrel Aged Vietnamese Speedway Stout '. Opaque black, foamy brown head. Aroma is cocoa, chocolate sauce, coffee, meaty. Body is a little frothy in the mouth, smooths out a little over time. Taste is meaty, rich, coffee, earthy, cocoa, rye bread, boozy whisky note. Good overall but I find it a bit too meaty and brash to be top tier. (7-4-8-3-16=3.8)

Bottle split at L42, big thanks to Manny G'berg via LKS, 14/11/17. Black with a decent tan head. Nose is rich chocolate, coffee grinds, charr, spice, cinnamon, faint Bounty bar, more luxurious chocolate tones - great nose. Taste comprises rich roast, chocolate melt, mellow barrel tones, spice, cocoa powder, dried fruits, coffee beans, molasses, toffee melt, light coconut tingle. Full bodied, oily soothing feel, warming boosty close. World class impy imbiber ... drinks below the stated ABV ... could chuge!
