Russian Imperial Stout with Coconut, Lime, Ginger, Lemongrass, Basil, & Coffee. Inspired by our brewers’ love of the assertive, bright flavors of Thai ingredients, this intensely flavored brew incorporates the vibrant quality of several Thai-inspired ingredients into our classic imperial stout. Powerful notes of citrus, botanicals, and tropical fruit balance the stout’s rich chocolate, caramel, and coffee character. The result is an amazingly flavorful and complex beer that pays tribute to the flavors of Thailand.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2018 Very dark brown with nice beige head. Nose is malty with herbal notes and lemongrass as well as tropiska fruits. Of course background with coffee and chocolate. Taste is the Classic Speedway stout but with some extra hints of thai /caribbic. Palate long and very indulging. Oily texture with high viscosity. Overall one of the best stouts.

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is perfume, soap, like a citric soft session IPA. Just at 12%. Shit! Body is heavy and strong, still a Speedway, but herbal, lime, citric. Such a weird beet, yet so tasty and balanced. Impressive!

Bottle, thanks derA! Black color with beige head. Aroma is full on basil, lemongrass, kaffir, coffee, ginger, really everything there. Taste is basil, ginger, lemongrass, all the spicesy with a light roast and chocolate. Velvety, super-smooth mouthfeel with soft carbonation, full-bodied. Works, and extra points for the daring idea and nailing the balance.

Sample at Bob's Bar. Brown-black pour with a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roast malt and tea. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, coffee, chocolate and a bit of spiced fruit. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Good beer overall.

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2018 Black with quick fading head. Aroma is a bit soapy with all the lemongrass, ginger and lime. Flavour is similar but there's an interesting but ultimately pointless fight going on when the thick , oily richness and dark bitter coffee-like malts kick in.

Tap at brewery. Aroma and flavor are milk chocolate, booze, that spices, roasty bitterness, and some residual sweetness. Full body.

tmoreau (4974) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAR 6, 2018
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. dispensed to a snifter displaying a black/brown hue, with a finger's width of brownish tan froth, and web-like lacing. The nose was strongly roasted, cocoa, spices as cinnamon & ginger, slightly herbal, with a touch of tropical, zestiness, & Thai vibe, but also a hint of fels naptha-like soapiness. Full bodied, with low carbonation, the taste was somewhat similar notes as the aroma, syrupy, with roasted & earthy bitterness, and noticeable booze.

On tap at Farmhouse Tap and Grill in Burlington, Vermont. Pours opaque dark brown, no head, small amount of tan head lacing. Aroma: spices (hard to pinpoint), molasses. Flavor: molasses, ginger, chili peppers, black peppers, lemongrass. Mouthfeel: full-bodied, slick. While it's good for the flavored style, the flavor profile is all over the place, leaving me scratching my head and wondering, why?
