UPDATED: FEB 6, 2016 Draft sample at the speedway grand prix 2013. Black as night pour with a tan head and some lacing. Chocolate, roasty malt, earthy, cardamom, woody, black tea, spice, and awesome coffee flavors. Very good, interesing imperial stout treatment and very complex. Also sampled at the Grand Prix 2015. Good.

Taster at Alesmith Grand Prix. Pours like other Speedways. Aroma is middle eastern spices, cinnamon, earthy super intense Turkish coffee, roasted malts, bakers coco, and some wood notes (Cedar). Has a medium-full body with a super creamy, velvety mouthfeel, and a semi bitter, long, spicy finish. Overall, a amazing version of Speedway that was definitely my favorite of tasters I had.

On tap at AleSmith, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out the cardamom notes upfront, and lighter coffee notes. Flavour brings out sweet dark fruits, cardamom, and light coffee notes. Quite sweet and spicy, almost like a liqueur. Great stuff.

Tap at Alesmith for Speedway Grand Prix. The best of the series by a good portion putting it as one of the best beers I’ve ever had in my life. Out of this world, once in a lifetime type of beer.

Inky pour with excellent red lacing, webby and complete. Nose is one of the best I’ve ever experienced. At first it is a Turkish morning market complete with saffron, exotic spices, sharp mace/nutmeg, incense/religious shrine. After it warms up it takes me to an amazing memory from my childhood waking up to the mountain and morning breeze in Wyoming. Fresh air, intense flowers, bee nectar, lime honey comb. Log cabin breakfast on the porch overlooking the mountains. Taste is fresh cinnamon/spiced latte coffee, spicy dark chocolate, fully integrated spices with nothing forced. Palate is rich and silky. Nothing tannic, no office jalapeno green coffee nonsense, no harsh lemon coffee acid, no dusty spice adjunct. Purely, naturally integrated. Explosive aroma is one of the most intense beer experiences I’ve ever had. Lasting, powerful shock that sends your brain into a spiral searching for the words to say.

On tap at brewery. Black with a thin creamy tan head. Huge cardamom, coffee, and chocolate aroma and taste with lactos and sugar notes and an earthy bitter coffee and spice finish. Quite good.
