Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

So sippable for a 12%. Lots Of roasted coffee, like an espresso liquor. Nutty with caramel warmth and complex intensity. Good balance of bitterness and sweetness Top class

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2017 Such an amazing stout, blending deep veins of chocolate and caramel with heavy mocha notes backed up by candied black cherries, fig, and anise. Sweet but not overly so, instead building up to a dry, dark roast coffee back end, bitter and clingy and oh so perfect. Gorgeous black pour with a tan head and endless lacing. Nose screams imperial coffee stout, sweet and heavy and decadent. Ridiculously smooth for a 12% beer. A classic. Delicious. Can't believe it's been seven years since I've had a bottle. Won't go that long again.

Keg at Hop Locker #3, which is either South Bank or Waterloo, there's an overlap. Liqour chocolate aroma. Jet black and glossy. Thin beige head. Bitter but it's restrained and smooth. Like the aroma, Id compare with a liqour chocolate. But never harsh. Thick bodied. Oily. Flat. Low key finish. Lovely. 12% but so easy to drink.

Aromat jest słodki, intensywny i bardzo przyjemny. Przy głębokim wdechu czuję zapach palonych ziaren kawy. Aromat idzie teraz w kierunku gorzkiego, z palonym finiszem. Dodaje to całości trochę smaczku. Oprócz słodkiej kawy czuję też palone słody oraz gorzką czekoladę. Później pojawiły się wiśnie, są one lekko zaznaczone.

Keg at BrewDog, Clapham, London in Aug 2017 - Pitch black in colour. Good creamy beige head. Very Malty; roasty malts, roast coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, liquorice, caramel, vanilla. Fruity; dark fruits, raisins. Rich and smooth. Sweet-bitter roast coffee and chocolate malty throughout. Enjoyed this a lot. Lovely Impy Stout. (2017-08)

Сoffee, chocolate, sweet, cognac notes. Great beer, but for my taste slightly sweet.

Special lunchtime trip to Brewdog Clerkenwell to sample on keg. Excruciatingly expensive for a third, but it did look good in the glass with a nice colour and a small, but perfectly formed, brown head. The flavour was intense, with lots of coffee, soy and quite a bit of sweet chocolate. The alcohol was also very forward. The mouthfeel was velvet and oil and the flavour lingered long after the last sip. Overall? I have to say that it is not my thing and I have had better imperial stouts. Cocoa Psycho and Good King Henry and the Special Reserve all had a complexity of flavours that was lacking from this. They also had a bitterness from the roasted malts whereas this had a sweetness that is prevalent in so many USA beers. Glad I tried it, but a bit of a waste of money.

Puszka 0.5l. Aromat czekoladowy, z wanilią i ciemnym chlebem, niezbyt intensywny.

Aromat kawowy, czekoladowy, delikatny alkohol. W smaku kawowe, brakuje ciała i intensywności. Goryczka niska, gładkie.
