Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

Thorough coffee and roast. Deepest black with solid brown pillowy head. A bit boozy with great coffee and roasted qualities. Thick and sticky. Big coffee throughout. Top notch world class and something I would hold for a year or two if I had got another. At least. No question it could be improved with age.

Big and potent aroma with quality chocolate, huge roasted malts and coffee notes, caramel, toffee, liquor. Almost no alcohol, just pure awesomeness. Taste is embedded in a full body, with a creamy mouthfeel and low carbonation. Fudge, dark chocolate, hazelnut, roasted malts, espresso coffee and alcoholic spiciness. Finish is pure liquid unsweetened chocolate. No astringency, no messing around. An absolute beast.

Poured from can dated 01/17 pitch black pour with a nice creamy mocha head. Aromas of roasted malt chocolate coffee and vanilla. Taste is lucious and creamy super mouth feel coffee chocolate vsnilla. Super beer. I wonder if there is a difference between the can and the bottle.

Strong aroma of chocolate and coffee. Explosive taste of coffee, chocolate, hints of prunes and grape. Thick and creamy, well balanced and drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

What makes this beer great it's probably incredible balance. Nothing is to much and nothing is not enough. Nothing is sticking out. Just enough of coffee and chocolate. Moderate sweetness, untraceable alcohol , roasted bitterness. Highest level of imperial stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Absolutely pitch black with creamy brown head. Aroma has coffee at its centre, accompanied by lots of sweet, chocolatey malt. Background has some sticky cake fruits. Big coffee taste too, more like an espresso than a flat white. Apart from the coffee, no one flavour is too overpowering. Well balanced mix of chocolate, caramel, toffee and some more cake fruits. Not a lot of alcohol burn, just smooth, easy drinking. Well deserved reputation.

(1 pint can)
Having decided to pay due respect,
To my local BrewDog Bar,
I perused the place with a curious intent,
And sought a good beer from afar.

The infamous, legendary, Speedway Stout,
Did all to return my gaze,
Upon opening the can,
Said the beer to the man,
"Prepare, good sir, to be amazed!"

A sapid, squid ink, jet-black beer,
with a tinge of mahogany brown,
provided a beautiful, dense tan head,
For which it was duly renowned.

Coffee and chocolate,
Vanilla and rum,
With oak and brown sugar galore,
Liquorish and treacle,
Dried fig and plum pudding,
Could only make way for much more.

A dry hint of cinnamon, warm winter spice,
And a hearty singe of booze,
The raisins in brandy,
With toffee and fudge,
And a delicate treacly ooze.

Light as the air, and much like a marshmallow,
So smooth and so sumptuously rich,
With oaky dry sherry,
And juniper berry,
And elderberry scolded in pitch.

The mineral water,
Like lamb to the slaughter,
Makes for the true brewer's best friend,
Remarkably sweet,
Yet the bitterness makes itself known 'til the last bitter end.
