Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

The perfect soundtrack for this beer would be Rufus wainwright: cigarettes and chocolate milk. Decent imperial stout. No fancy pancy - just well made stout.

Aroma: Lots of coffee, roasted malts. Appearance: Black, oily, medium, beige head. Taste: coffee, coffee and even more coffee, bit of dark chocolate, no alkohol, low carbonation, full bodied. Overall great beer!

szczupaczu (244) - Rurzyca, POLAND - JAN 2, 2018
Barwa niemalże czarna, obfita beżowa piana. W aromacie czekolada i delikatne likierowe nuty. W smaku bomba czekoladowa, wspomniane likierowe akcenty. Paloność dość niska, słodkie, fantastycznie gładkie. Pije się wyśmienicie. Alkohol niewyczuwalny. Gdyby nie cena, sięgał bym regularnie.

sauvintipper (11) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 30, 2017
16oz canned 2017 12% ABV 70 IBU poured into sauvin pitch black with 2-finger tan head that dissipates rather quickly with fair amount of lacing. Light coffee and chocolate notes over base of roasted malts and dark fruits. Coffee flavor is lost in taste which is a shame since they went to the trouble of adding “with coffee” on the can! Taste of chocolate and molasses over roasted malts and hops. Well balanced beer, not too sweet and not too bitter. Good job of masking alcohol content in nose and taste! Buy again? Yes

Tried this beer a few times, but first time i rate it. Can. Pitch black with tiny tan head. Nice aroma of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, sveske, complex and inviting aroma. Taste Liqorice, vanilla, coffee, chocolate. Hidden abv. Nearly as much power as i was expecting according the aroma. Oliy texture and well cabonated. Nice beer!

Bottle thanks to wombat23. Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted grains, heavy cream, plum schnapps. Taste is mildly bitter with smokey, roasted notes—trends lightly sour at the finish. The alcohol is mostly disguised but not completely, feels a bit raw around the edges. This sat in the cellar for about 8 months, maybe a bit more time would have done it good. Body his thick and heavy, carbonation is mild. Overall, quite good but verging on overwhelming. A candidate to age and rerate.

Dark brown, clear, thick head. Aroma: coffee beans, chocolate, malty sweetness, lucorice. Full to medium body, high sweetness, medium bitterness. Lots of coffe, but it doesn't cover everything; malty base, quite clean, chocolate, well hidden alcohol, bit spicy finish. Quite complex and balanced.

Mister_Li (1629) - GERMANY - DEC 24, 2017
Klares dunkelbraun mit durchschnittlicher, beiger Schaumkrone. Reichlich Röstmalze, Kakaopulver, dunkle Schokolade, Kaffee, etwas Vanille, Karamell, cremig, bitter.

4.3
the_beergery (176) - - DEC 23, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2017 1 pint can. Appearance is opaque jet black with a thick head of tan froth, which gradually dissipates into a thin ring and doesn't regenerate on swirling. Aromas are rather muted, but dark chocolate and roasted malts are prominent, with coffee and dried dark fruit in the background. Tastes are similar, bittersweet chocolate and roasted malts upfront, with dried cherries and prunes, then later the drier and more bitter flavours of coffee and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is amazingly creamy and rich, like hit chocolate or cappuccino. Some booziness in taste, like bourbon despite this not being a barrel aged version.
