4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Black pour with a tall, creamy, sorta chunky mocha brown head that has awesome retention and leaves good lacing. Aroma has tons of coffee, chocolate, toast, caramel, a little toffee, sugared roast nuts, a little earthiness and dry floral notes. Flavor is loaded with coffee right away, like good coffee, lots of sweet caramel, roasted nuts and milk chocolate come in, roast malt, hints of pine and bitter dried citrus, earthy notes, some floral and lightly acidic hop notes that could easily be from the coffee instead of hops and as it warms some dark fruit, sweet bread spice and vanilla notes come out. Palate is creamy on entry, with a light, to moderate strength, but blanketing carbonation to break it up before an off dry, but still sort of creamy, but oddly crisp and fairly clean finish. They really worked some magic here, somehow having a beer huge in flavor, complexity, body and alcohol content while having a finish as clean and smooth as most stouts half this strength. Still it has a lingering, pleasant sweetness with a little coffee and nuttiness that lasts a good, long time, it just isn’t overbearingly roasty, or sweet, or bitter, just delicious, leaving me wanting more. It is definitely on the sweet side, but it carries it well, offering an awesome balance in most categories, despite being a 12% Imperial Stout. Fantastic, one of my new favorite beers.
Draft at Yard House, Los Angeles. Finally found after a three-week long trip through the USA, after giving up hope, but here it is.Bootlegger007 (167) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 20, 2017
Pours cloudy jet black with a lasting, small, foamy, beige head. Smell is roasted malt and toasted bread. The complex aroma contains the same, dark chocolate, dark fruits (figs), malt, coffee (with milk), some hops, even citrus, caramel, some vanilla, smoke and light alcohol. It tastes medium chocolatey sweet, light to medium coffee-like bitter, with very light sour hints. The finish is long, roasted and light hoppy (but never aggressive in both aspects) and very light alcoholic. The ABV remains-well hidden, yet there is some warmth from the alcohol. Full body, a creamy and very smooth texture, soft fizzy carbonation - which makes it unbelievably easy to drink. Due to the enormous richness in flavour, complexity in aroma and smoothness in palate, this is probably one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted.
I walked past this so many times, it finally made it into the shopping basket, so glad it did, outstanding stout. Pours a deep black with a solid cap tan head, aromas of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate along with caramel and dark fruits, flavour had the bitter spice sensation with the characteristics of vanilla, coffee and chocolate, a full bodied stout with a boozy warming after-glow. Poured from a bottle that I've been aging in somewhat suboptimal conditions since around June 2015. Pours dark black with a dark tan head that lasts. Coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, raisins on the nose. Taste is bitter chocolate, black coffee, prunes, caramel, honey. Medium to heavy body, thick mouth feel, fine carbonation. Long finish of booze and cacao. A great big stout.

Mélysötét szín, bézs hab. Étcsokoládés, vaníliás, kávés illat. Malátás, vaníliás, karamelles, whiskey-s, édeskés íz. Az alkoholt egyáltalán nem érezni. Pazar, nagyon jó stout. balloonbuffoon (325) - - JUL 9, 2017
16floz can. COD: 01.26.2017, $6 paid, large snifter glass. Appears basically black with one finger of sticky head. Nose is rather pedestrian. Toffee aroma leads to a heavy, complex, and well-balanced all things considered palate of brown sugar and carob flavors. The level of quality is impressive. It is in my top tier of imperial stouts, albeit lower than others. bonev (780) - POLAND - JUL 8, 2017
Czarne jak smola z ladna bezowa piana. Palona goryczka i wysycenie na niskim poziomie. Bardzo dobrze ukryty alkohol, duzo gorzkiej czekolady, palonych slodow i przyjemnej kawy. Slodka kontra w postaci karmelu i toffee, pelne cialo i bardzo gladkie odczucie w ustach. Hopper8 (178) - Holland, Michigan, USA - JUL 3, 2017
I think my only complaint is that as the beer warmed the coffee, licorice, velvety smooth feel whilst being so drastically bold got lowered by the alcohol coming forward. This might actually be a 5 from me, but I’d need one more glass. minihame2 (641) - Oulu, FINLAND - JUN 28, 2017
Black, a bit oily looking, nice foamy, dark tan head. Aroma has malts, dark chocolate and some other sweet tones. Taste is a bit sweet, lots of roasted malts and coffee. Light bitter finish. Slick mouthfeel, soft carbonation, really smooth mouthfeel. Very, very good.
