Speedway Stouts ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beers dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stouts fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

Black pour with a tall, creamy, sorta chunky mocha brown head that has awesome retention and leaves good lacing. Aroma has tons of coffee, chocolate, toast, caramel, a little toffee, sugared roast nuts, a little earthiness and dry floral notes. Flavor is loaded with coffee right away, like good coffee, lots of sweet caramel, roasted nuts and milk chocolate come in, roast malt, hints of pine and bitter dried citrus, earthy notes, some floral and lightly acidic hop notes that could easily be from the coffee instead of hops and as it warms some dark fruit, sweet bread spice and vanilla notes come out. Palate is creamy on entry, with a light, to moderate strength, but blanketing carbonation to break it up before an off dry, but still sort of creamy, but oddly crisp and fairly clean finish. They really worked some magic here, somehow having a beer huge in flavor, complexity, body and alcohol content while having a finish as clean and smooth as most stouts half this strength. Still it has a lingering, pleasant sweetness with a little coffee and nuttiness that lasts a good, long time, it just isnt overbearingly roasty, or sweet, or bitter, just delicious, leaving me wanting more. It is definitely on the sweet side, but it carries it well, offering an awesome balance in most categories, despite being a 12% Imperial Stout. Fantastic, one of my new favorite beers.

Imperial Stout irrepetible.

Pours a blackout curtain black, with a creamy nut-brown head that shows its thickness in thatbit supports itself. Aroma of coffee (obvious), molasses, brown sugar, maybe even a little dark leather. Mouthfeel is immediately creamy and even a bit chewy with small bubbles. Taste is exceedingly complex, with brandied cherries, sweet carmelized sugar with almost vegetal undertones. This is all on top of a powerful baseline of coffee, somewhat bitter steak char. Theres a lighter aftertaste than Id expect which is almost of banana and grass. On the eve of Donald Trumps inauguration, this thing is yuuuuge.

Pours thick with a big, billowing dark brown head; plenty of lace around the glass, and its pitch black in color of course. Complex nose of dark chocolates, buttery/creamy malts, lightly spiced, bitter honey, brown sugar, and of course a lot of bold, dark-roast coffee. The taste is just as complex as the nose. It arrives with bright, acidic coffee with a little bit of spice and hops before transitioning into a smooth, creamy malty middle. It finishes very nicely with plenty of bold coffee notes, brown sugar, and some alcohol. The warming of alcohol is present throughout the palate but is especially noticeable in the finish. Once warm, the coffee notes stand out the most and followed by some more sweetness and alcohol. Smooth, heavy body; low carbonation; finishes warm, long; dry as hell. Beautiful coffee imperial stout!! The strength is where it should be, and the complexity rewards in layers.

Bottle at fermentoren Copenhagen. Pours pitch black with a light tan head. Amazing aromas of lots of coffee, roasted malts and milk chocolate. Such a sweet and balanced aroma. Taste is more bitter, like dark chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied and kinda creamy with low carbornation.
