Welcome to the holidays! Double Red IPA arrives each year as the weather turns cool and our cravings for winter warmers begin. This Imperial Red Ale has an intense hop aroma with well-balanced caramel malt sweetness. The intense American hoppiness builds on the substantial malt backbone to deliver a full-flavored beer with a ton of complexity.

(Bottle) Clear, dark red body with a large beige head. Heavily fruity and sweet, slightly floral aroma; orange peel, strawberry, cherry, flower petals. Medium bodied, chewy, oily mouthfeel. Flavor is sweet, malty, brown sugar, alcohol, grape, pine, orange. Long bitter finish.

4.3
commonmac (1287) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 30, 2016
12oz bottle picked up at Elevated in South Minneapolis. Consumed in snifter glass. Pours a copper/amber color with an assertive off white full finger head. Great lacing. Nose has resin and citrus qualities and the aroma is huge. Taste has a healthy malty backbone offsetting a big hoppy assertiveness. There are elements of dried dark fruits present but the pine and resin really run the show. The malty caramel sweetness adds a complementary drinkability that works really well with the citrusy hops. Wonderfully big and bold beer representing what Alesmith does so well.

3.6
wombat23 (1621) - Texas, USA - DEC 29, 2016
Shared 12 oz. bottle. Amber pour with a light beige head. Aroma of citrus and caramel. Taste is citrus, caramel, pine. It’s good, but not as good as some of the other AleSmith IPAs.
