COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously known as Winter YuleSmith.

Welcome to the holidays! Double Red IPA arrives each year as the weather turns cool and our cravings for winter warmers begin. This Imperial Red Ale has an intense hop aroma with well-balanced caramel malt sweetness. The intense American hoppiness builds on the substantial malt backbone to deliver a full-flavored beer with a ton of complexity.

Decent not spectacular. Dark and malty - cloudy amber color with caramel and a little bit of licorice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle (22oz). Red with two finger off white head. Lots of roasted malts. Slightly burnt taste (not in a bad way). Some pine. Not much on the hop side. A little bitterness in the end. Actually pretty good for a red (not generally my favorite style).

12 ounce bottle. Hazy copper red color. Large rocky beige head. Rich roasted malt nose. Notes of caramel and brown sugar. Flavor follows nose. Smooth and malty with a roasted, nutty malt flavor. Alcohol is well hidden. Chewy, malty finish. Earthy notes.

Lekko mętne, złote, z dość fajną, kremową pianą, niezbyt trwałą. Zapach mocno amerykański ale w kierunku owoców tropikalnych. Słodko, lekko alkoholowo. Jest ananas, winogrono, morela, mango. Trochę żywicy. Wyraźny i całkiem miły chociaż trochę za słodki. Smak klasycznie imperialna IPA. Czuć moc ale alkohol nie wychodzi. Jest bardzo pełne, owocowe. Głównie owoce tropikalne, dojrzałe jabłko, morela, winogrono. Goryczka średnio wysoka, trochę zalegająca i taninowa. Nie przeszkadza to jednak bo fajnie to kontruje mocną słodowość. Trochę ta goryczka robi się gryząca z czasem, alkohol gdzieś w końcówce języka szczypie. Nasycenie idealne.

Bottle from Beers of the World. Aroma of bread and caramel malt, floral and citrus hops. Surprisingly well balanced in my opinion.

Originally rated on 2/7/09. Aroma of pine, citrus, and some floral overtones to go along with the sweet malts. Appearance was a heavy looking deep red body with yeast floaters that were suspended. Mouthfeel was nice it was hearty, and chewy but smooth. Flavor started with the pine hoppiness but the caramel malts quickly came in and complimented the hops. The alcohol was slightly noticeable, and it had a nice mellow aftertaste. Overall this was a pretty nice winter brew, thats worth a try.

From the bottle. Pours red/brown with cream foam. Aroma is dry fruits, nuts, figs, citrus. Body is medium-dense. Taste is sweet at first, then bitter. Finish is short.

Not that much going on with the aroma; had to stick my nose so deep in it that I snorted a gulp's worth. Once expelled, a pleasant sweet smell remained. Nice thick body, aggressive bitterness that lingers and fades to a warm toasty malt finish. Might supplant Nosferatu as my favorite red. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Paid ~$2.75 for a single 12floz bottle (BOD 10.04.2016), and poured into a tulip glass. Appears murky, copper-brown in color, and aroma consists of dried fruits (raisin and apricot - malty and hoppy). This is an American strong ale comparable to Stone’s Arrogant Bastard. A filling beer with tempered hop bitterness. Toffee, fig, dried cherries, and oily resin complete the palate. It has been about ten years since I had Yulesmith, and it is similar to what I remember.

Bottle pour. Pours a cloudy red brown amber. Heavy bitterness. Subtle mix of malt and hops. Strong alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
