12oz bottle - it pours an almost hazy amber, burnt orange with a very thick, fluffy light beige head. Complex aroma of roasty caramel, clover, hearty bread and citrus/pine hop punch. Heavy amber malts deliver body and sweetness while resinous hops bring a bitter balance. Nice long aftertaste

Bottle from Seijo Ishii, 8 weeks old. Pours a deep amber, lovely beige head and lacing. Big hop nose, grapefruit, pine, met by a strong caramel sweetness. Flavour brings the same notes, nicely balanced, nothing out of place. Big bitterness but a full earthy caramel toffee malt backbone to make each mouthful glide over the palate. Nails the style.

Yule Smith, tasted a 2009 and 2011 version from the cellar. Figs, fruits and hops in a great combination. The 09 version was rounder and bolder than the 11. There was also more yeast in the bottle. The 11 had a slightly metallic afternote. Both are great but the 09 version was the better bottle.

It pours dark amber with reddish hules. It has a tannish head tinged with red. The head retention is good. It has a deep malt aroma with caramel, grass, floral, grapefruit hints. and It has flavors of deep caramel, grass, floral, and some grapefruit. It has a moderate body, but a somewhat sneaky texture. It has a moderately bitter finish. Overall, this is a well balanced ale with plenty of flavor and complexity.

Aromas of deep amber malts, dark malt syrup, toffee, burnt caramel, heavy dank hops, resin, hop oils, grass and earthy hops. Pours a dark crimson with a thin white rim and hop oils floating atop. Taste brings sharp bitterness upfront immediately followed by a crisp, refreshing ale yeast/hop combo. Mid palate offers a deep amber malt, toffee, dark malt presence while still offering plenty of heavily resinous, dank hops, grass, earthy, oily notes. Slight note of tangerine/mango. Overall, finishes pleasantly hoppy and resinous. Very clean hop profile throughout.
