An Imperial Porter brewed with a Haitian sugar called Rapadou. Rapadou is a traditionally processed cane sugar that lends a great toffee caramel flavor to our 8.5% ABV Porter. Watch for this one aged in oak barrels in the future. Limited edition of 2007 bottles.

Great porter from a local brewer! Appearance is opaque brown, tastes of light chococolate, coffee and roasted notes. Overall a very well put together porter that I have bought quite a few bottles of!

Opaque black beer, short lived chocolate coloured head. Dark chocolate on the nose. Semi dry palate. Rich dark toffee and chocolate with licorice - alcohol. None of it sweet. Finishes much the same way with a dark malt aftertaste. Rich and flavoursome but it lacks something to counterbalance it’s heaviness. Decent though.

GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Bottle 0590 of 2007. Poured an opaque black color. The head was one finger high and brown. It reduced over a minute or two to a lasting film. Chocolate and whiffs of cinnamon and anise in the nose. Medium to full bodied and slightly sweet. A bit of roasty bitterness emerged at the end.

This is a review for bottle 1256 of 2007 from Rick’s Wine & Gourmet in Alexandria, VA. Served @ 45 degrees F in a Troegs Mad Elf snifter glass. This beer was incredible. Extremely intense unrefined sugar with hints of raisins. Very much a molasses note to this. There was alcohol, but it wasn’t boozy. Color was deep and dark, with about two fingers of foam, which did not dissipate quickly. I really wish this beer hadn’t been limited to 2007 bottles, because I’d like another three. I still have one though, that I’m sitting on. Serving type: bottle

Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours near black with a light earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of roast joined by a good amount of toffee with slight hints of bitter chocolate and caramel. Flavor begins dark with roasted malts and dark chocolate but has a bit of sweetness from toffee in the finish.

Really really good. Nice black / deep brown pour with a big aroma of dark chocolate, roasted lats and coffee. A nice dry coffee bean and dark roasted chocolate flavor. A really well blended Porter.

RBSG 2010 somewhere... I wrote: 8resrevzyryjilyylgggjjjgggggb. Very very dark brown brew with a small light brown head and ok lacing. Pretty good aroma - chocolate, tobacco, light smoke, sweet, nuts and some hardcore molasses or something and some roasted malts. Big flavours of sweet oiliness, fin shit (that’s what is typed up - thanks iphone spell check), bakers chocolate - tons, cocoa, vanilla, light spices. The finish is just too much to really enjoy to the max.

In short: A toasted, caramelized, chocolaty and nutty dark ale that is just too easy to drink.

The look: Near black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose is fudge caramel, chocolaty and roasted nuts. Pleasant malt backbone just how I like it, rich and creamy with fudge caramel, cacao powder, notes of chocolate but also a lot of toasted nuts and dry bread crust that dry out the beer. Not much fruity flavors to talk about. Leafy resinous hops work with the toasted bread and toasted nuts to really keep the sweetness in check. This beer is scarily drinkable. I like it. Go a lot to drink again on that knight. I realize now that I really can’t hold my alcohol. That’s why I swallow it.

Bottle shared by cbk. Deep brown pour with a creamy head. Roasty aroma with coffee, caramel and molasses. Nice bitter roasty flavor. Great brew!

Courtesy of ksurkin. Pours dark with mahogany edges and mocha head. The aroma is pretty darn rich with molasses, caramel, prunes, dried cherries, chocolate, a mild note of black licorice and a muted array of Noble hops. The taste is smooth with near creamy molasses, burnt malts, caramel, dark roastiness, chocolate and a bit of toffee. Well put together.
