Amazing. Wehn I was at the brewery I asked about the brewmaster’s reservse and this one sounded the most fascinating. Brewed with cane sugar and I can taste it. It’s more of a refined sugar. And incredible porter worth a taste but it’s limited. SuzyGreenberg (1603) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 18, 2009
bomber - bottle 288 of 2009; big thanks to ksurkin as this was part of a big porter trade; cracked at the HOTD dock sale; pours clear dark cola brown with thin tan head; lots of dark fruit, vanilla and chocolate cookies; drinks with sugary sweetness, brown sugar, caramel and coffee; nice roasted malts with yummy sweet coffee; bone dry finish; very impressive brew and I enjoyed this much more than their bourbon barrel impy porter; would love to get another bottle of this one; thanks Ken!! 22oz bottle pours inky brown black with a finger of tan head. Nose is rich earthy dirt, bark, spice, coffee, molassess sweetness, cocoa, bitter burnt chocolate, roast. Palate is silky soft and holds all the complexities of the nose with a nice earthy sweetness which compliments the dark fruity spices without becoming cloying. Finish is spice cocoa, ash, dark fruit, sweet molasses. Very impressed and would love to see what barrel aging could do to this. ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - SEP 16, 2009
UPDATED: OCT 25, 2009 bomber #1229 from grape & gourmet. pours an oily thick, deep, dark brown with a thin, dark tan head and a great ring of lace. aroma is excellent with huge notes of brown sugar and toffee, dark fruit notes of fig and prune, and touches of chocolate and wood. flavor is great as well with big, dark roasted malts, sweet toffee, slightly sour dark fruit notes, bitter chocolate, and a touch of smoke and coffee on the finish. palate is full bodied and silky smooth with great carbonation and well integrated alcohol. overall, a damn nice imperial porter. zizzybalubba (1869) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 1, 2009
22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet (bottle 1169 of 2007). Pours black with a tan head. Dark fruit, chocolate, and brown sugar aroma. Slick mouthfeel, but a slightly chalky texture as well. Tastes of prune and raisin which fades into baker’s chocolate and smoke. Lingering chalky dark chocolate flavor; alcohol barely noticeable. A great beer.

bottle courtesy of ksurkin, thanks! pours black with a nice spongy brown head that fades quickly. aroma is very sweet and earthy, lots of spices and vanilla, hints of bourbon even in this one. the taste is cloying sweetness at first, bit the finish and aftertaste make up for it with a really nice blend of flavors. the aftertaste is dry and bitter butter, which is nice after the cloying. nice progression of sweet to bold to bitter, all with a meduim full creamy body. good stuff, goes down easy. bottle 314/2007 courtesy of mr. cbk on 3/21/2010.
dark orange tinted brown with a small tannish head.
the nose is full on brown sugar ... mixed with roast, chocolate, vanilla, coffee-like toasted nuttiness and a touch of hoppy spice.
the flavor follows the same route... brown sugar, vanilla, cream, cocoa, coffee, warming spices and peppery with a mild bitterness on the finish. it is surprisingly quite dry.
the medium body is crisp and creamy. that combo makes it very drunkable... 8/4/8/4/17/4.1

Bottle shared by cbk. Deep brown pour with a creamy head. Roasty aroma with coffee, caramel and molasses. Nice bitter roasty flavor. Great brew! davey101 (751) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 4, 2014
Date stamp of 6 2 14. 22 oz bomber into a tulip. Pours a pitch black with a finger of clinging khaki foam. Nose is roast, chocolate, sweet vanilla, faint dark fruits and some caramel. Taste is a nice balance of light roasted coffee, chocolate, sweet vanilla and some earthy toffee. Creamy body but doesn’t linger forever. This is a very good porter.
