Number 22 oz offering #355 of 2007 from up the road in Williamsburg. Dark, dark brown with a hint of reddish tinge. The aroma is sweet and robust, full of brown sugar, enough to attract any hummingbird. This has an almost wicked bite of woodsy, roasty caramel, almost coffee-like. This is delicious and I look forward to the oak-aged version. (#3262, 12/31/2007) Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 10, 2008
Bomber, #206/2007 thanks to Ken!! Poured deep brown with a whipped, well-retained cap of tan head.. sticky, slowly cascading lacing rolled down the sides of the glass.. beautiful! The aroma was well on the sweet side, with lightly-roasted sweeter chocolates, molasses, and cane sugar.. brown sugar showed itself with warmth.. as did just the faintest hint of toasted coconut which got this another point. The flavor was centered around brown sugar and toasty cocoa.. molasses and singed toffee roll over the sides, and a substantial smoky coffee bitterness emerged at the long, roasty finish. Medium-plus bodied with a long impression on the finish.. balance was solid.. this was a tasty brew! BeerVirgin72 (880) - Pickerington, Ohio, USA - MAR 17, 2008
Bottle shared at the Cleveland tasting. Thanks Mike! Pour was dark brown, slight creamy head. Aroma was sweet malts and caramel. Taste was brown sugared malts, caramel, and toffee. This was very enjoyable. sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 17, 2008
Shared at Cleveland tasting 3/15 Bottle: Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma, roasted notes, dark fruits, chocolate. Flavor, coffee, roasted notes, brown sugar, chocolate and dark fruits. Pretty solid brew. ChainGangGuy (4894) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - MAR 29, 2008
Appearance: Pours a near black body with a thin, bubbly, off-white head. Let’s Rapadou this!
Smell: Light, sweetish aroma of dark malts, chocolate, charred sugars, and roast.
Taste: Dark chocolatey maltiness with a good amount of sugary caramel sweetness. Hint of fruit. Very slight roasty, earthy bitterness. Puff of smoke. A little rebound of the earthy roastiness for the finish.
Mouthfeel: A bit above medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Boy, I’ll tell ya. This is a pretty tasty porter.

The appearance is black with a tan head. The aroma is roasted coffee and chocolate. The flavor is somewhat sweet and quite complex. I taste chocolate, coffee, and a hint of toffee flavors. Overall this was a nice Imperial Porter. obguthr (6366) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - APR 26, 2008
Lightly charred oak and chestnut aroma, with cocoa also present. Thick viscous black pour with a firm medium dark brown head, great lacing. Mainly charred oak flavor with date and grass notes. A little like battery acid on the palate. Full mouthfeel with good balance. Not really as good as I hoped. Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUN 3, 2008
Bomber. Initial tasting reminding me of the inaugural ale they brewed. Pours very dark brown with fair brown head. Very roasty and chocolatey aroma. Notes of caramel and some coffee, even a little nutty flavor. Mouthfeel is creamy with a medium-full body. Pleasant bitter finish. Very tasty. Foxbush (2029) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAR 7, 2009
UPDATED: NOV 2, 2011 Bottle 1565/ 2007 This is major Porter. The beer poured with a brown forthy head that dissapated and left some lacing down the glass. I purchased this bottle at the Alewerks in Williamsburg. The Brewmatser recommended that I try it. He was right. The flavor was immense. The higher alcohol was not detected until later. It is a full bodied porter with chocolate and caramel flavors. It is a joy to drink. Some sweetness at the finish. When this is stored in bourbon barrels it will be amazing. ucusty (2691) - raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAY 24, 2009
Thanks to Immy for this one! Thick dark pour, fluffy brown head and drippy lace. Chocolate and alcohol on the nose. Silky mouth feel and full bodied. Complex flavor. Earthy, chocolate, toffee, coffee, and molasses. Very solid offering!
