UPDATED: OCT 8, 2008 Bottle #1939 of 2007. Pours nearly absolute black with a thin dark brown head. Aroma of brown sugar, vanilla and smoke. Strong taste of brown sugar and coffee, with a smooth finish. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2008
Thick properly dark brown body with thick legs, viscous lacing and a oily texture, underneath a tan to dark tan head. Strange starchy, spicy bread in the nose, with strong notes of toffee and caramel. Moderately thick texture, surprisingly thick, actually, with a hefty dose of chocolate, toffee, coffee grounds, spiced wood? Very strange but very good – quite different I think than anything I’ve had before. Resembles a foreign stout with the level or roast combined with exotic spices and coffee and such. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 28, 2008

Heavy coffee like roastedness, and an odd burnt something, like charred sugar, taste is burnt coffee and dark caramel, finished by a smooth and bitter light sweetness, alcohol well hidden, strange combination, coffee grounds taste more burnt then roasted, you certainly notice that strange sugar used, still very enjoyable

Bomber thanks to Butters. 1808 / 2007. Pours quite dark black with small tan head. The aroma is dark fruits and rum, with hints of smoke, vanilla, and chocolate. The flavor is ashen roastiness, rum, prune, toffee, and a strong earthy finish. There’s a bit of an oaky sourness, and not really any alcohol noticeable. The aftertaste is long and burnt. Pretty good. blklab2007 (2120) - Connecticut, USA - APR 23, 2009
bottle poured a dark brown in color with a pretty two finger frothy light brown head. aroma has brown malt, caramel sweetness, light chocolate, dark dried fruit, and some coffee. medium mouth feel with light carbonation. flavor has mellowed malt, earth, chocolate, dark fruit, and molasses. definitely a big beer with plenty of sweetness and has aged out well adding a bourbon wood thing. mikem409 (2029) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - JUL 5, 2013
