Tasted at a bottle share in Asheville a while back. Ultimately I found this beer to be very comparable to some of the best barrel aged English barley wines out there, even though it is technically described as a strong ale. Huge sweet caramel and toffee notes with a nice little booziness/heat that leads me to believe it will age well. j25stew (4) - Virginia, USA - MAY 30, 2014 does not count
Definitly lots of bourbon aroma followed by complex notes of malt and sherry. Warming but no warning of the high alcohol contained within this beer. Very dark in color with lasting tan head. This is a great beer that will be very hard to find. Michbeerlover (147) - - MAY 27, 2014
Picked up a couple of bottles at the brewery recently. Reminds me of Kuhnhenn's BB4D, but not as thick. You could almost chug this beer down. Heavy aroma of cherries, cocoanut and very slight alcohol as it warms. Taste matches the aroma. It is quite sweet, medium mouthfeel. High quality port wine like, excellent.......

Draft at DoG Street Pub. Delivered a muddy, reddish brown hue. Bubbly at the top only, but there’s almost no head. This has a wicked bourbon aroma that almost scares me off. But this drinks equally intimidatingly easy, with little to no sign of the 11% within. Rich brown sugar, chocolate-covered cherries, toffee. Fantastic stuff. Draft at DoG Street Pub during the Alewerks tap take over. Pours murky copper with a short tan head. Aroma is boozy with bourbon, vanilla, toasted coconut and cherries. Taste is sweet with dark cherries, vanilla, toasted coconut, toasted malt, booze and yeast notes. Dessert notes in this as well. Body is medium with a strong dense carbonation. Moderate stickiness and plenty of boozy warmth. Finishes with more booze, sweet malt, cherries, dark fruit, vanilla, caramel, toasted malt, coconut and bourbon. Yummy!

Draft at the VA Craft Brewers Festival, Devils Backbone, 8/24/13. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of butter toffee, caramel, booze, stone fruits, mild herbal hops. The taste is raisin, toffee, herbal hops, stone fruits, boozy finish. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness.
