Yorktown, Va - Yorktown Pub - 12 oz bottle. Dark, oily brown pour, thin but persistent khaki colored head, a touch of lacing. Aroma has a hint of creosote, some nutty notes, a touch of chocolate. Flavor has a strong roasty presence with some bittersweet chocolate notes, a touch of black coffee, some earthy topsoil. Mouthfeel has a bit of chalkiness that I like in porters, but just a tad thin. Not bad. mike5326 (1754) - virginia beach, Virginia, USA - JUL 3, 2015

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small foamy brown head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was roasty with strong anise, wood and coffee. The flavor was tart, tangy and a bit off with cherry, anise, coffee and hints of vanilla and cola. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.
