Alexander Black is the first of our seasonal beers. A wintry beer, dark and warming, strong in alcohol, rich and complex with flavors and aromas of dark chocolate and espresso. The basic style is porter, but Alexander Black is a Turbo Porter higher in alcohol, richer and more complex.

This is an enhanced version of our beer that won gold medal in the category of Porter in 2009 Stout Challenge competition. If maintained properly, Alexander Black will continue to improve with time.

Draught at DØE Beerfestival 2017. High creamy lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Powerful roasted malt coffee choccolate aroma and flavor with a bit of liquorice as well. Fair amount of hops bitterness, low carbonation, long finish. Alcohol level seems just right.

Draught sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2017. Pitch black with a thin, lightly tanned head. Sweet roasted aroma with caramel, chocolate, coffee, licorice and dark fruits. Taste is sweet. Medium to full bodied. Finishes slightly dry and roasted fruity with dark malts. Nice, straightforward Porter.

Many thanks to zvsn! Thank you Zeev!
Bottle. Black with small beige head. Aroma of fruits, toasted malts. Taste is much more richer: plums and prunes, chocolate, alcohol (a bit disturbing), dryed fruits, toasted malts. Medium body with watery texture, moderately carbonated.

Rotin (1686) - Neratovice, CZECH REPUBLIC - MAR 14, 2017
Bottle 0.33l from trade with zvsn, many thanks, Zeev! Really dark red colored. AROMA- roasted malts, alcohol, touch of cherries. FLAVOR- neutral, chocolate, light cherries and nutty tones, alcohol. Light to medium bodied.
More body would be fine.

Saeglopur (2296) - Vienna Woods, AUSTRIA - FEB 25, 2017
330 ml bottle, bb 30/03/2017, from a trade with zvsn, thanks!
Dark brown to black body, with a medium, creamy, dissipating, dark beige head.
Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, caramel, toast, some banana, some coffee.
Tastes quite similar, with some more liquorice, subtle tobacco.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes smooth, medium roasty, a bit warm, a bit wooden, a bit toasty, with cocoa, caramel, slight fruits.

Nice one. Smooth, but fully aromatic, with nice chocolate notes throughout. Maybe a bit too less robust, I would prefer a little more roastiness. Overall a really solid style example I would drink again.

CanCrusher (1104) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - DEC 18, 2016
Bottle 0.33L. Courtesy of Kita. Black color with small, frothy, light brown head, that sits down fast and leaves nice crown behind. Aroma of dark chocolate, espresso, caramel. Taste starts light sweet with a lot of chocolate and roasted malts, finish is light sweet, too. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation.

anders37 (26878) - Malmö, SWEDEN - OCT 17, 2016
Draft @ Ølfestival 2016. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty caramel aroma. Roasted malty licorice and chocolate flavor with hints of caramel. Has a roasted malty licorice and caramel finish.

mmather (186) - Colorado, USA - SEP 11, 2016
deep, dark, smooth. Alcohol is evident, but obscured. Drinks more like a mellow, foreign stout than a porter, but is still a good beer. Be sure to get this one fresh for best results.
