Enormous savoury aroma, it’s like concentrated gravy, but sweetish too. Some coffeelike roast too. Some wooliness too. Full palate, smooth, but nice carbonation. Rich roast more dominant in taste. More coffee. Finish is where it shines, the roast lasts forever, nd has black chocolate cake written all over it. Nice!
Rerate: Oops, ditto! (7:4:7:3+:13=3.4+)
less savoury this time, less coffee too. Slightly harsh palate as the combination of the coldness and keggy carbonation is too aggressive. There’s less going on everywhere, but that does mean it keeps the 8.5% well under control too. Deep down, I prefered the bottom half of the glass shared with mjs before. Looks - black, and that head is so freaking dark it’s like koff porter - wowsers! Good but not great. Not a bad accidental rerate at all.

11-12-16 // bottle at home. Trade with hackobock. Thanks!! Black beer with a nice foamy brown head. Intense coffe notes in the nose and on the tongue. Dark roasty malts. Coffe, espresso, light chocolate. Light bitter finish. Long lasting finish. Good!

330ml bottle. Pours pitch black, with a firm brown head. Complex, solid aroma, roasted malt, licorice, coffee, chocolate, tobacco, hops, tar. Semi-sweet, full bodied, mid to high bitterness, creamy CO2. Rich, complex, slightly developed taste, solid malt backbone, roasted notes, coffe, licorice, chocolate, tobacco, tar, faint hints of smoke, something reminding me of menthol or eucalyptus (!). Very well made, well balanced, a sipper that you could easily powersip a pint of. (2016-12-08)

Bottle thanks to Santa angst. Nose is dried dark fruit, molasses, light tobacco, earthy, dirty, light anise. Medium sized brown head. Taste is similar. Strong in tobacco and currant flavored. Definitely on the dirty earthy side in a good way moderate to strong alcohol warning but never hot. A faint Brett? Character as it warms. Very nice.

Black!!! This is dark and a real chocolate and coffee nose. Also some charcuterie in the nose. Rich and intense taste and a long lasting taste. Some caramel and burnt notes in the final. Candy sugar.
