COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Allagash Black, our new Belgian style stout, is brewed with German 2 row barley, Torrified wheat and oats, balanced by a large addition of Belgian dark candi to give the Black a full and silky mouthfeel. Roasted malts give this stout its classic chocolate, toast and malty taste, and contribute to chocolate notes and a hint of roasted coffee in the aroma. The Black is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain and refermented in the bottle with the methode champenoise to make this beer truly unique. Availability: 750 ml bottles, 5.17 gal kegs ABV: 7.5% Original Gravity: 1.072 Recommended Serving Temperature: 55°F Recommended Cellaring Temperature: 55°F

Clear dark red brown color with a large, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, moderate to heavy yeasty, medicine notes, alcohol notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20081105]

75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to deep black with a small off-white head. Aroma is roasted malt, light breadish and vague spiced. Mild ashtrayish and with a lingering dark chocolate malt flavoured. Smooth malty and chocolate flavoured finish.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, yeast, and some malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and a bit of fruit, leading to a dry roasted finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle at Papsø. Clear red brown coloured with a small beige head. Roasted aroma of liquorice and dried fruits with notes of dark chocolate. Roasted flavour of liquorice and dried fruits with notes of spices. Roasted finish of liquorice.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown almost black color with a longlasting tan head. Has a roasted malty aroma with lots of chocolate. Roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Roasted malty chocolate finish with some hoppy hints. Very nice one!

[email protected] Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Very deep brown colour with a mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, mild toffee as well as some mild fruity notes. Flavour is rather similar in a nice balance. Towards the end of the bottle it gets some slight yeastyness to it as well.

Bottle. Nearly completely black, hi carbonation off white head. Aroma of earth, dirty dark chocolate, black pepper. Taste is rich and thick dark chocolate, over roasted coffee beans, pepper. Nice.

28th July 2008. Smooth dark beer. Slightly creamy. Lots of rich malt with just a hint of smoke. Soft, not too bitter, slips down easy.
