It pours a very dark brown, almost black and yields the same color body in my chalice. A small soft filmy one centimeter tan head appears and dies within fifteen seconds. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen. No lacing is seen. The smell is very complex and inviting with some dark chocolate coming in very lightly along with some banana and raisins. The taste brings back the dark chocolate, banana and raisins yet also has a bit of roasted coffee. The alcohol comes out a bit as the beer warms. The palate is about a medium to heavy with nothing bad on the tongue. It gets pretty creamy and the carbonation is light all around. Overall, I’m glad I tried it and am pretty sure I would have this again.

this one pours a brown black with a glint of gold and a thin head. the aroma is belgo yeast, a touch of smoke, and a bir of malt. The taste is likewise strains of Belgian yeast, a bit of heavy syrupy malt, and some stouty smoke darkness to keep it going. Good for a rainy Sunday with your boo boo a cooking up something spicy in the kitchen!!!!

Served on draft. Slight head with a dark tone. Immediate malt taste of smoke and butterscotch. Aftertaste is where the Belgian yeast kicks in. A highly drinkable, flavorful ale. Enjoy with a friend on a cool fall evening.

Draft at Bar Harbor Beerworks in Bar Harbor, Maine. This is a stout? Too much of a Belgian yeast flavor that I don't like.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2017 Bottle (12oz). Strong smokey and coffee tasting stout. Maybe a little chocolate. Medium carbonation. (update 10/22/17: was 3.6, now 3.8) Been enjoying this a lot lately.

On tap. Malty raisin aroma. Chocolate, raisin, toffee, and other sweet treats in the taste with a decent bitter bite. Solid.

12 oz single bottle from Total Wine & More - Laguna Hills. Deep reddish brown colored and clear in appearance with a tan head. Aroma of flavor of black licorice, fruity esters, molasses, light chocolate and hints of candy sugar, coffee and Belgian yeast. A little intense at first, but much better as it warms. An interesting stout overall.

LCI. Uit de fles geschonken. Heerlijke Belgium-style stout: gerookte mout, koffie en hop, licht rokerig. Prima stout/dark ale

12oz bottle. Very dark brown, beige head reduces to a thin collar. Enticing aroma of fresh roasted coffee, hints of cocoa. Flavors start with coffe then become more chocolate toward the medium, warming finish.

Taste is of toasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and herbal hops. Finish is long and bittersweet. Overall good brew.

Growler from Monroe Super Buy Rite in Englishtown, NJ. Translucent cola brown color is topped by a large frothy tan head. Faint roasted malt nose hints at ash and charcoal. First sip yields sweet roasted malt flavor that touches on coffee and chocolate. Picking up notes of dark candi sugar, cocoa, tobacco, raisins, burnt wood and magnolia leaves. Yeasty, smoky, Belgian funky yeasty notes in finish. Sweet, dark and intriguing. Delicious and soulful.
