2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft from Pizzeria Paradiso. Pours opaque black with faint coffee. Not as aromatic as I would think it would be, but maybe I’m a little stuffy. Tan head that clears quickly, but leaves lots of lacing on the glass. Watery taste up front, almost like a tap water taste. It gets better as it gets to the middle and back palette. Coffee with roasted malt. Kind of disappointing, for something in the 95th percentile I expected good flavor and mouthfeel across the whole palette. This didn’t deliver, but I will probably revisit it to be sure.
Bottle (12oz). Strong smokey and coffee tasting stout. Maybe a little chocolate. Medium carbonation. kevinsenn (2245) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 30, 2017
On tap. Malty raisin aroma. Chocolate, raisin, toffee, and other sweet treats in the taste with a decent bitter bite. Solid. ajnepple (6830) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 3, 2017
12 oz single bottle from Total Wine & More - Laguna Hills. Deep reddish brown colored and clear in appearance with a tan head. Aroma of flavor of black licorice, fruity esters, molasses, light chocolate and hints of candy sugar, coffee and Belgian yeast. A little intense at first, but much better as it warms. An interesting stout overall. ZodiacM (1230) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 11, 2017
LCI. Uit de fles geschonken. Heerlijke Belgium-style stout: gerookte mout, koffie en hop, licht rokerig. Prima stout/dark ale Bacchus66 (772) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 10, 2017
12oz bottle. Very dark brown, beige head reduces to a thin collar. Enticing aroma of fresh roasted coffee, hints of cocoa. Flavors start with coffe then become more chocolate toward the medium, warming finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours brown with tall, creamy, beige head, nice lacing and lovely carbonation. Aroma is of herbal hops, toasted malt and coffee. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste is of toasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and herbal hops. Finish is long and bittersweet. Overall good brew. gripweed57 (2723) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAY 6, 2017
Growler from Monroe Super Buy Rite in Englishtown, NJ. Translucent cola brown color is topped by a large frothy tan head. Faint roasted malt nose hints at ash and charcoal. First sip yields sweet roasted malt flavor that touches on coffee and chocolate. Picking up notes of dark candi sugar, cocoa, tobacco, raisins, burnt wood and magnolia leaves. Yeasty, smoky, Belgian funky yeasty notes in finish. Sweet, dark and intriguing. Delicious and soulful. kevinator63 (36) - California, USA - APR 11, 2017
UPDATED: APR 11, 2017 Lovely ebony black stout. Silky on the tongue, notes of smoke, coffee, sweet chocolate and caramel. One of the sweeter stouts I?ve had. Overall, it?s good, with everything I enjoy about a good, black stout. From a bottle gifted by a friend. I?ll pick it up when I see it again. ludhaber (126) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 24, 2017
The beer has weak aroma. The yeast taste is buried behind dark chocolate malt which is pretty harsh. The flavor is quite complex and it is interesting. I am just not sold on it. geologyguy (1629) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - MAR 5, 2017
Light roasted smell...Almost no smell...Taste is much more bold....And good sweetness...Warming smooth malt...Light roastiness...Medium complexity...Good mouthfeel
