3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Ron! Muddled orange & amber with a quickly fizzling white head. Aroma is tart & lactic forward. Sour lemons, cherries, light apple, with a mild vinous & slight oak character backing it all up. Faint sweat sock funk in the finish. Taste is sour lacto without much burning acidity at all. Light tart cherries & some sour lemon flesh. A touch of oak & a biting, slight tartness in the finish. Not much funk in the flavor, this one is mostly just tart. Dry finish, very nice stuff.

2013 bottle. This beer knows how to make a first impression. It’s a gorgeous reddish-yellow and it smells like sour cherries and barnyard funk. There’s a pretty high sourness initially, but it fades into a complex mix of funk, fruit, and grain before finishing puckering and dry. Allagash has made something world-class here. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 19, 2016
Bottle courtesy of a kind soul at Beer Blogger’s Conference 2016. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is cherry, funk, brett, some sour bite, and a bit of fruity sweetness. Flavor is similar with cherry, fruit, funk, some sour bite, and a hint of oak. Light to medium in body and very nice overall. The_Osprey (7991) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 13, 2016
May 2016 - Bottle share at Floor 42 with thanks to Paul. As ’Allagash Coolship Cerise’, 8.1%, bottled Jan 2012. Opaque orange, lightly sparkling, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is peachy, light cherry, sherbet, some chlorine, elderflower, a little buttery, oak. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is rhubarb cream sweets, peachy, thin cherry, some sherbet, spicy, a little oak, lightly acidic with a little booze showing up. Not as much cherry as I was expecting, but still really good. Intense cherry juice colored body shows a good clarity and just a hint of chill-haze. Pink-flecked beige head atop shows moderate retention.
BIG barnyard in the nose and we are talking borderline baby diaper here. Sulfur to the max and while there’s definitely a little bit of baby diaper, it’s not nearly as bad as Casey’s Montmorency Farmstand. Vanilla, cream-of-wheat and boisterous cherry notes all help boost the aroma above just a barnyard bomb and there’s a bit of earthiness and rustic hay/wheat-like character in there as well. Light black pepper phenolics contribute an authentic character and there is no alcohol noted.
Lovely sour and tart cherry notes combine with authentic lambic-like qualities. Carbonation is mostly engaging with a light but soft body and all elements of the fruit appearing through the middle and lingering: flesh, skin, pit, acid, sugar....Nicely done and glad to see more funk from Allagash.
375 mL bottle shared with ebone1988. The pour is a darker pink orange with a thin ring of pure white head and a couple spots of lace. The aroma is good. There is a bright sour cherry right up front. The deeper you inhale the more of a sugariness seems to get added. The dry tartness on the back end is really enjoyable. The flavor is really tart up front. There isn’t as much cherry as I’m hoping for. It’s nicely crisp and in your face. There is a light funk and a little spice that carries out to a sweet maraschino cherry on the finish. The mouth feel is light and crisp with a nice carbonation and a lingeringly sweet cherry finish. It’s almost like a cherry pie filling on the way out. Not too shabby.
