Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 6, 2012
Pours hazy opaque amber with a thin lasting white head. Smells of dry malt, some underlying tart/sour hints, some residual sugar traces, coriander notes. Tastes of tarte fruit, some musky undertones, some hay/floral elements. Decent.

Highly carbonated from the get go. Tart and sour apples in the aroma. Some light grains and berries too. Not over acidic aroma, bit on the sweet side. Color is a hazy golden orange. Very lively in the mouth. Medium sourness with lots of lemon zest, oak, dried grains and sour grapes. Mild alcohol presence. Moderate tartness but decent balance by the malty sweetness to balance the brew out and not make it a pucker bomb. Finishes a tad dry and tart.

mansquito (6815) - Nueva York, New York, USA - JUL 9, 2017
Bottle from the brewery: pours clear gold with loose head. Aroma is funky yeasts, basements, light touch of fruit, and some tree. Taste is moderately sour. Pretty complex. Doesn’t scream gueze but recognizable as such. Dry. Pleasant and easy to drink. As usual, a good beer from Allagash.

TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 4, 2017
Pours a cloudy/hazy yellowish orangish golden color with fizzy white head that dissipates quickly. Tartness, funk, wheat, oak, and grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with funk, tart citrus, and dry.

375ml bottle from the brewery. Murky orange, large fizzy offwhite head, good retention. Aroma of oak, white grape, apricot, dandelion, funk, musty mold. Taste is bright apricot, white grape, pepper, strong funk. Thin-medium bodied, high carbonation, very strong lingering tartness.

From notes. Enjoyed at a bottle share at Sean’s on December 29. 375 mL bottle. The pour is a nice cloudy golden yellow with a thicker white head that slowly dissipates, leaving no lace. The aroma is really funky up front. There is a light tart fruitiness, a strong dusty barnyard to it, and a little horse blanket on the finish. It’s interesting, and not quite what I would call a gueuze. It’s close, but not quite. The flavor is much of the same. There is a woodiness to it in addition to the funk. The barnyard kicks up a little more and drowns out the tart fruitiness. The horse blanket exists on the finish with a little sweatiness. The mouth feel is lighter and pretty crisp with a lingeringly funky and lightly spicy finish. It’s really dry and not as tart as I would hope. Interesting beer.

From a 375 ml bottle purchased at the brewery. Pours a cloudy gold. Funky farmhouse aroma. Flavors of vinyl, some caramel and horse blanket. As weird as it sounds, this is a really nice beer.

Sample at Zwanze Day 2016 at Jolly Pumpkin. Aroma is funk, tart, cat piss, barnyard, horse blanket. Appearance is golden, mostly clear, off white head. Taste is sweet, funky, cat piss, barnyard, good. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, crisp, funky cat piss aftertaste. Overall, this is pretty solid.
