Allagash Curieux is a unique beer that was aged for 8 weeks in Jim Beam Bourbon Barrels. In July 2004 they brewed a batch of the Triple and placed it in Bourbon barrels from Kentucky.

Huge thanks to Leo. Wow, this shit smells wonderful. Almonds, vanilla and rice, in the best acceptation possible. Round and warm, inviting. The last glass develop a little ethylic touch. Remains very elegant. Forget to mention that is golden and very clear. The flavour is sweet, with a quite dry end.

On tap at ADT (Allagash takeover). Hazy golden-orange with a frothy white head. Wheat, lemon curd, light citrusy hops, bread, Belgian banana flavors, spice, funky yeast, oak. Full bodied, mild carb. Bourbon-barrel finish. Very tasty.

NORSAND (108) - Lillestrøm, NORWAY - JUL 17, 2017
1.5 year old (bottled Nov 2015) Nose: Buttery sweetness, maize, bourbon, vanilla. Taste: Slightly sweet, medium to full bodied, grain and bourbon dominated, in a positive way. Quite nice and very drinkable. The 11% ABV is scaringly well hidden, it’s really impossible to notice while drinking it.

Draught @ Meisterstück, Münich. Aroma has sweet bourbon tones, vanilla and mild alcohol. Flavour has strong bourbon tones, vanilla, chocolate(!) and non-disturbing alcohol. Also some fruits. Tripel is very well hidden here, I can only taste some tripel-like maltiness in the finish. Intensive stuff.

Pours clear golden color with a huge white head. Alcohol comes through the thick layer of froth, grainy, some toffee and yeasty spice notes, nice bourbon-vanilla notes too. Surprisingly pleasant toffee-infused soft flavor at first, malty and grainy with yeast tones, alcohol eventually burns a bit. Okay.

Bottle share with family (Dave and Jeff). Aroma is dry fruit, oak, peaches, bourbon syrup, Belgian candy sugar. Taste is juicy and dry apricots with some spicy Belgian bits all mellowed and punched up by the Bourbon. This is a knockout concoction.

Aroma: lightly leather, earthy and roasty. Appearance: golden amber Taste: Very light sweetness and slightly salty Body: medium body, creamy, average carbonation Im fairly new to specialty beer, but this one satisfies my preferences in alcoholic beverages across the board. I enjoy Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc wines; full-bodied bourbons; and stout and Belgian influenced beer. It’s like a perfectly blended mixture of all of these and is my current favorite.

Draught. Pours a nearly clear yellow-gold with a small white head. Aroma is vanilla, oak, raisins, yeast, spice, light bourbon, some coconut, toffee, and earth. Taste is coconut, vanilla, some bourbon, some oak, a hint of honey, and Trappist-like yeast. Fairly sweet. Lightly bitter. Light-medium body. Soft carbonation. Slick, smooth mouthfeel.

Starts with the well-known sweetness of a Belgian tripel, but then finishes with a sudden bold, sour woodiness or resin. Mild yeasty, sour aroma. Very fine, scant head and rather carbonated for a tripel. Definitely does not seem like 11% ABV, goes down way too nicely. Really interesting tripel take overall.

Poured from 750mL bottle (bottled on 11/02/16). Clear yellow with full bubbly white head. Yeast and coriander with mild wood, finishes with a smooth bourbon flavour, alcohol mostly hidden. Very smooth, well balanced. Not a traditional abbey tripel by any stretch, but still quite good.
