4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: Poured with a very spare head that quickly diminished to a ring on top of the beer. Body is dark brown and hazy.
S: Pretty good aroma of some roastiness, clove, and some fruit as well.
T: Slightly fruity, with hints of dark chocolate. Seems like there may be cloves in there as well. Finishes a bit dry, but otherwise a pretty smooth-drinking beer.
M: Medium-bodied, creamy, with lively carbonation.
D: A pretty easy-drinking dubbel. A very solid representation of the style, and lives up to the high Allagash standards.
Bottle purchased from Whole Foods in San Carlos in May 2017. Bottling date of 04/19/16.
Pours a warm medium reddish brown with a pillowy light tan head. Lovely aroma of caramel, toffee, malty goodness, some plum notes. Tastes of plums and caramel, with a dry finish of toasted nuts and oak. Alcohol is noticeable but not overpowering. matty (443) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 29, 2017
750 mL bottle. Pours an opaque reddish-brown color with a thick off-white cap of foam. Aroma is of yeast, malt and a little alcohol. Medium-full body. Flavor is a nice combination of malt and yeast with just a touch of sourness. Finish is a little sweet and sour. Excellent beer! Lager43 (54) - Watertown, Connecticut, USA - JUL 18, 2017
Allagash did a great job with this Dubbel. A wonderful malty flavor. Alcahol is pretty up front from the first sip. It gets more interesting and complex if allowed to warm up a little. Cheers!

Great carbonation. Dark brown body. Dark fruits and banana really come through. This beer was a little old but still held uo to the test of time. Very drinkable. chadski (155) - California, USA - APR 14, 2017
Apple aroma. Off-white head that lingers. Restrained flavors with a lively and active finish. Not as good as the Trippel.

2016/11/30 - Pours a hazy amber brown colour with a thin off white head that quickly reduces and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel, doughy yeast, red grapes, figs, plumbs and light molasses. Taste is toffee, dark fruits (figs, plumbs) and yeast with earthy and nutty notes. Mouthfeel is medium, with sharp carbonation and a dry, bittersweet finish. Not my favorite Allagash beer, but still very drinkable. Westchesterco (2126) - mclean, Virginia, USA - NOV 19, 2016
On draft at the brewery it is a cloudy red color with a white head. The aroma is malty and the taste is strong malty taste with hints of nuts PhillyCraft (7709) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 18, 2016
Bottle from Canal’s Bellmawr shared with Joe and Stash. Pours a hazy brown color with an off white medium head. Smell is dark malt, cherry, wood, belgian yeast and fresh baked bread. Flavor was prunes, fig, dark cherry, oak, and chocolate malt. Medium bodied. Tastes stronger than the alcohol percentage Enjoyable DandyWolfFloyd (1212) - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 28, 2016
Aroma - sweet malt, alcohol, cherry, and a slight wood.
Appearance - the body is a deep mahogany, the nucleation is constant and nice. The head is off-white and about 1/2". The head fades into a nice foam.
Taste - has nice semi-sweet dark malt. There is a little bit of chocolate, nut, some wine like dry sherry, and spice. The yeast isn’t immediately obvious.
Palate - medium body, carbonation is average, finish is dry and slightly tannic and a very fine touch of bitters. tightslice (1397) - Redwood City, California, USA - SEP 11, 2016
Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is spice breads, burnt sugar. Taste is muddled...malty, some spiced raisin bread, yeasty, maybe wood. Not as smooth / fluid as I had hoped for, perhaps it really softens over time? Overall a little disappointing from the likes of Allagash.
