Shared by Marcus. Ledger’s label said 0808, so assuming it’s 2008. Hazy orange-golden color with a frothy, lacing white head. Aroma is spicey! Quite strong - it’s gingery. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is ginger over malt. It’s a good ginger beer. Soft, smooth and lightly biting. Fantastic - but au fonde it’s a simple beer. Simple, but seductive. I want more. marcus (10232) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 17, 2008
This golden ale poured with a bubbly white head and a bubble gum aroma. Same bubble gum flavor with a bitter finish and lots of carbonation. Heavily spiced, especially ginger. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - OCT 4, 2008
Pours gold with a nice pillowy white head. Smells of sweet candi sugar, spice, some peppery splashes, pronounced floral hints. Tastes dry with a gingery bite. Great beer! SQNfan (591) - Wheaton, Illinois, USA - OCT 2, 2008
On tap: This poured a hazy golden in color with a head of fine white bubbles. The nose was extremely spicy espeically with ginger. The palate was crisp with nice concentration. It was very well-balanced and should improve with age. Cornfield (5570) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - SEP 29, 2008
Bottle from Pat-apostrophe-s Liquors in Porter, IN: This poured a hazy straw body topped briefly by a fizzy white head. The nose is spicy with ginger, chamomile, clove, ang ginseng. The flavor is not as spicy as the aroma suggests, a light and peppery sweetness with a touch of ginger. Tasty and refreshing with a well hidden alcohol presence.

One of my favorites from the belgian beer tasting in Boston 9/27/08. More ginger in the nose than in the flavor, no doubt, but very pleasant and well-balanced. I’m impressed by this beer, because it is a rare combination of wheat and strong characteristics. padrefan98 (854) - (San Diego) Santee, California, USA - SEP 27, 2008
On draft at the Main Tap in El Cajon. Lots of ginger in the aroma with a very subtle hint in the flavor. The flavor was a bit bland. But still pretty good because of the ginger. fordest (2470) - Santee/San Diego, California, USA - SEP 26, 2008
Draft at Main Tap. Lots of Ginger in the aroma. Sweet ginger. Reminded me of Ginger Beer. Flavor fell off a bit with more ginger and some spice that struggled to come through. Still pretty good. Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - SEP 23, 2008
The body is a hazy, glowing, orange-amber color with a lasting, frothy, off-white head. Spotty lacing slips and slides about the glass. A bold but well blended aroma of crystallized brown sugar, candied orange peel, ginger, cinnamon, and coriander is accompanied by a light floral hoppiness and a distinctly Belgian yeasty note. Flavors are equally complex, candy sugar malts spiced delicately with clove and citrus peels, along with a very minty herbaciousness and spicy ginger. The yeast profile is dry, with a funky, saison-like twist. Big bodied and well carbonated, there is very little annoying cloyingness that plagues many brews in this mold. This is another winner from Allagash. illidurit (2341) - San Francisco, California, USA - SEP 15, 2008
On tap at 515 in Santa Cruz. Poured into a snifter. Nice fluffy white head atop a cloudy white peach body. Good lacing and retention.
Aroma is decidedly spicy. Lots of coriander and nutmeg, with the trademark zing of ginger.
Flavor is sweet and spiced. Ripe pear with eggnog, coriander, and ginger notes.
Mouthfeel is very full for a witbier. Carbonation is good, alcohol is minimal. Overall a fulfilling and flavorful wit.
