3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Smells like a saison, lot of all spice. Very complex beer, has a lot of spice in the taste and something prominent that I’m unsure of what it is. This is my first beer of this style.
Bottle at Novare Res, 7/10/16.Lubiere (14155) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 10, 2016
Large beige head is well-retained atop a deep golden-brass body with a touch of copper and chill haze.
Fruity yeast notes are quite strong and showcase apple, pear, strawberry and peach. A little bit of bubble gum and lots of pepper. Not sure where the yeast phenolics start end and the actual peppercorn begins but it’s well-done without being overdone. Malts behind it are lightly bready and could be a bit more delicate/soft/succulent to balance these big phenolics.
Still a very high carbonation, with light vegetal qualities, strong esters and phenols and moderately sweet, caramel-tinged cream-like maltiness. Gets peppery-sweet on the end, maybe a bit too much so. Alcohol well-concealed and no flaws. Don’t get the spelt really, though I suppose the light cerealic sweetness could be due to the spelt. Interesting and seems like it must have been rather overbearing young.
A hazed golden ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light pepper notes, light treacle, light candy sugar, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light peppercorn, light treacle, light oxidation, alcohol warmth, very nice. Bottle, 750ml, at Novare Res, Portland, Maine. An unclear yellow-orange beer with a dense light beige head. The aroma is lightly oxidized, vinous and quite fruity, with a nice peppery touch, peaches, some lemon hints, cellar, white wine grapes and some barnyard hints. It’s full bodied, lightly warming, soft and dry, with flavors of peppery yeast, peaches, generic fruityness, cellar and funk notes and some sweetish maltyness. Decent bitterness too. Lasting fruity and yeast funky finish with a peppery touch. A true beauty. 150609 Meilby (11739) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 10, 2015
Bottle 750ml @ Novare Res Bier Café, Portland, MEDamico (3150) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2015
Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, dried fruits, light oxidization, yeast, funk, vinous and floral. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with along malty, vinous, dried fruity, yeasty, slightly funky, floral and hint of pepper. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Pours darker golden with an off white head. Aroma brings sweet floral and herbal Belgian like yeast. Flavor brings slightly aged yeast then big sweet herbal notes, a bit of spice bit from the peppercorn takes a bit to show up on the palate, but it is there even 2 years later.

750ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a big frothy white head that fades very slowly. Aroma of sweet grain and bready malts, Belgian yeast, coriander, peppercorns, farmhouse funk, and lemon zest. Taste follows the aroma with a sweetness on the finish. There is a mild yeast and spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. Slightly dry finish, lower level of carbonation, crisp and medium bodied.
