COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Interlude- somewhere between the leap and the landing. It’s a jazz solo, the riffing, the unexpected improvisation. Rooted in a Belgian theme, Interlude soars from a second fermentation with our own Brettanomyces yeast. Then takes five in French oak wine barrels that once cellared fine Merlots and Sirahs. And then bottle conditioning. In all, an outrageous effort to make a bottle of beer. But then, if you prefer to swing with magnificent red wine notes and funky farmhouse flavors dancing in the undercurrents of a crisp, remarkable brew, then Interlude has that thing. C’est le gout, toujours! It’s the taste that is always an adventure.

(Bottle 75 cl) Hazy, amber golden with an off-white head leaving some laces. Lightly tart and orangey aroma with a piquant touch of Brett. Medium body with lightly sweet and fruity notes and a discreet and enticing acidity. Quite refreshing. 011206

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2012 Tap at Rattle n Hum. Off the bat, I am not a huge fan of this beer. Just not my style. Pours a hazy orange with a soft, white head. Floral nose with hints of barnyard sourness. Flavor is tart and somewhat fruity. Mildly sour. Notes of wood and hard alcohol. Tingly mouthfeel with some puckering. Aftertaste is a little sour but still crisp and a bit refreshing. I try to be objective...

Bottle at Kobenhavnske Oldage 2007. Pale amber colour. Very tart and acidic, almost in a Belgian Sour style. The wood comes through strongly as do the vinous notes. And, like Mes, I got some cider apple notes too. Also some spicy touches. Unusual but intriguing. But I like it. I think.

Corked bottle, vintage 2007
Hazy copper-amber color, shining; the foam is initially quite frothy, but reduces to a thin consistent layer. The aroma is immediately sour, some vinegar, sour apples, wood and a hint of wet cellar. Good mouthfeel, medium body strength, with dryish malt flavor, and a light woody acidity to make it more complex; there are even traces of ammonia. It has the right bitterness, and in the final there is a very light astringency too. Interesting.

Tap at Capones Annual Black Friday event, Norristown PA, 29/11/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with a moderate off white covering that dissipates to edgework. Nose is dark fruit, straw, lemon sherbet, bitter orange, brown sugar. Taste comprises tangy apricot, pineapple, tarte orange rind, citric dipped straw, light caramel notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonaion, dry closure with yeasty and bitter tropical notes in the finale. Decent tarte Belgian affair with a little booze, the 9% is well integrated.

At GBBF 2009. Hazy brown gold, interesting rih sweet brown sugar aroma. That’s awful. Cereal, vinegar and way too strong.. Badly constructed with none of the elements harmonising.

750mL bottle, split 3 ways, pours a semi-hazy red with a small white head. Aroma of red wine, candied sugar, bubblegum and yeast. Flavour of bubblegum, candied sugar, sour fruits, red wine and brett. Very nice array of flavours. Delicious.
