tap @ WoB. Fairly unique one, lemons and hay at first, shifting to something coffeelike. Slight alco perceptible. Confusing ale but points for being different

On tap at brewery. Pours gold with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is yeast, light coffee, some bourbon, very light oak, and raisin. Taste is light coffee, Belgian yeast, oak some bourbon, banana, light clove, some light vanilla, and some spice. Dry. Medium+ body. Medium carbonation. Oily body. The first few sips taste great [8/10], but over time the yeast and banana come to dominate many of the other elements, much to the beer's detriment. [~4/5]

(Rating #7874)

750 ml bottle. LIght orange in color with some upfront candy sugar sweetness and then whiskey. Not really getting any coffee. But tasty.

Hazy orange pour with a single finger head. Aroma has lots of coffee notes along with a hint of Belgian candied sugar. Medium bodied. Booze forward, belgian candy sugar and some grain notes. A little lace present.

Draught @ Alisson's, Kennebunkport. Cloudy golden amber with very small white frothy head, coffee beans aroma, low carbonation, sweetish bourbon infused taste with alcohol undertones, smooth body long finish. The bourbon has brought some sweetness into the brew but the flavor and alcohol effect are not too obvious.

The last in a flight from the brewery. If your in the Portland area, check it out. Pours hazy dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is strong coffee. Taste is strangely balanced. Little sweet, little sour, little bitter. Notes of bourbon, raisins, vanilla, and coffee. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Very balanced but there is just too much alcohol. I would like to try this at 8.5 or 9%. How do you categorize a bourbon barrel aged tripel brewed with coffee? Kentucky Monks breakfast? It might be a bit too complicated but it is interesting.

My Bottom Line:
Coffee dominates the pale cereals, as herbal hops and alcohol heat round up this creamy strong ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the beige haze.
-Fruity esters tend to be overwhelmed by the coffee.
-Alcohol is a tad too prominent for my tastes.
-I have trouble getting into these blond beers with added coffee. I just don’t see where the harmony is.

Bottle.

On tap at Lama Dog, Santa Barbara. Pours cloudy golden orange with white head. Coffee in aroma, ripe fruit, yeast, subtle bourbon notes. Medium to full bodied. Sweet. Warming. Interesting experiment, liked it.

Bottle thanks to Ed. Pours a cloudy orange gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast coffee, pure sugar, yeast, spice. Medium body, yeast, spice, cocoa, roast, boozy finish, very good.
