On draft at App Vintner. Cloudy orange. Nice sour, tart flavor without being overly so. Great beer. BREWMUSKCLES (2731) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 20, 2012
sweet and lightly sour cherries muddled a litlle with mushroom. some alcohol and a touch of turpentine in malt. hop bitterness more pepper like in the mouthfeel. sweetens out after some time. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Tap at Sam’s in Durham. I ordered a glass for $7 and didn’t realize they were going to pour me a huge ass glass. I was trying to go in and out of the store. oh well. This was pretty good. Dark reddish, black cherry color, with a large foamy off-white head. Notes of sour black cherry, earthy, yeasty funk. A little muddled and watery when compared to the big boys. On draft at Novare Res for Gasharoo... Pours a ruby copper color with a three finger fluffy head that laces out fairly quickly. Aromas are very earthy, fresh compost, black tea and a hint of sour cherries. The flavors are very similar with a lot of earthy dusty, mushroom flavors that are brightened up with a touch of the sour cherry acidity and a hint of bitter sweetness on the finish. On tap at Pizzeria Paradiso.
Pours somewhat cloudy with tons of visible carbonation. Color is a pinkish-red with a bit of a copper hue to it. Think head of fizzy pink-tinged bubbles that go away fairly quickly, leaving a thin collar.
The nose has a light fruity presence. Red fruit, to be a bit more specific. As it is served, it is hard to pick out anything specifically. Some lactic character behind that along with a bit of earthy funk.
The flavor is quite nice. It starts out with a hefty hit of fresh, tart raspberries, following that up with some additional acidity. Lactic all the way with some from the fruit. Nothing acetic. Pretty good Brett character. Seems like Brett B and L, though Allagash claims to have a house Brett, so who knows.
Bottle is light with carbonation that is quite lively. Effervescent to say the least. Dry finish, with a moderate level of acidity hanging onto the palate for just a bit, yet it’s not bracing to the point where I feel like I need to rest between sips.
Overall, this is really quite nice and I’m glad that I stopped in for it. The fruit and acidity are extremely well balanced and the beer itself is very drinkable. Highly recommended. Now I need to find a bottle of this.

Draft. Pours hazy amber/ruby with a small white head which quickly dissipates. Aroma of cherry, funk, vanilla, earth. Taste is moderately sour, cherry, dust, tannins, earth. Palate is soft, somewhat flat, sour finish. Very nice. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 28, 2012
Pours amber orange with a little haziness and a decent beige head. The aroma is my favorite part - sweet cherries and wild yeast. The flavor brings nice tart cherry notes that are smooth, not as earthy coming from the steel but still delicious! sonnycheeba (6279) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 28, 2012
Tap. Pours hazy amber with average, fizzy white head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is sour fruit, cereal and cookie malt, floral hops, and light oak. Flavor is balanced malt and sour fruit esters with faint hops; dry finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth. Drake (14062) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 18, 2012
Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a hazy red color with a large head. Good head retention. Aroma of cherries, citrus, herbal and vegetal notes and a bit of earthiness. The taste is tart cherries, cherry pie filling, herbal notes and faint caramel malts. Medium bodied. Nice. jeff789 (1408) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 10, 2012
Cherry soda like fizziness not very tart or sour... Medium bodied lively... Decent but I’ve had so many better allagash sours...
