COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Allagash Saison is our interpretation of a classic Belgian farmhouse style. It is a golden hued beer, brewed with a 2-Row blend, malted rye, oats and dark Belgian candi sugar. It was hopped with Tettnang, Bravo and Cascade hops. Fermented with a traditional saison yeast strain, this beer exhibits notes of spice and tropical fruit in the aroma. Citrus and a peppery spice dominate the flavor and make way for a pleasant malt character. Saison is full bodied with a remarkably dry finish.

The Pour: Clear, crisp gold. Head is ivory white, two fingered and consistent. Nose: Smells floral, herbal, grassy like a meadow, or a wooded plain. Taste: Herbal and floral. Very dry, with faint wood notes of ash or light oak. Mouth Feel: Light to medium-light, sharp bubbles, and a dry finish Overall: Light, easy drinking, great for grilling (cookouts, picnics, etc.), meats and cheeses, or grilled vegetables.

355ml bottle. Milky, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with small, to average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Rather clean, floral and fruity aroma, notes of chamomile, daisy, pollen, honey, peach, nectarine, a touch of peppercress, Taste is dry, tart-ish, mildly citrusy hoppy, floral, fruity and peppery yeasty spicy, slightly bready malty basis, hints of chamomlie, daisy, honey, brine, mustard seed, unripe peach, a touch of peppercress, subtle, minimally sugary sweetness; peppery spicy finish. Rich and manifold, well balanced, thereby somewhat reticent and almost a bit watery.

My favorite US Saison is Ommegang Hennepin Saison or, in the general Belgian category, Gnoemegang Blonde Ale. In comparison, the Allagash body is thinner and taste is more mild than Hennepin. Minimal head when poured, tested in two different style glasses. I do pick up some citrus in both the aroma and flavor, along with some sweetness, which was nice. Here is the weird thing -- I had one of these over four weekends and each time, in glasses that had been cleaned the previous weekend and sitting in a cabinet, I picked up a definite odor of "dust" towards the middle to end. I dont know how else to describe it and I dont pick up that "dusty" smell with other beers in those same glasses and conditions. Net, its drinkable, ok, but not great.

Pale cloudy yellow with a diminishing, effervescent appearing head. Some grassy and fruity/yeasty notes on the nose. The palate is crisp, dry, very nice. Ive not had many Saisons but I can certainly see this fit the bill after a few hours of mowing or bike riding during the summer months.

BREWMUSKCLES (2637) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 20, 2017
nice golden colored saison that has a pleasant lightness to the body while frothy and fulfilling at the same time. really nice flavor of a Belgian golden ale full of coriander yet not overpowering. body is not watery but is not unduly thick. really a nice representation with some golden like malt and an easy peppery hop profile. really tuned in to this one. pleasant enough aroma. candied caramel, i like the fact that they got this done without a gimmicky fruit or anything like that. and that steely hard water notorious of this brewer is absent. abv to this lightly yeast treat is versatile.

Saison yeast, bread dough, grain malts, light lemon zest. Hazy, pale gold, small, frothy, white head. Light sweet. More sweet grain malts, Saison yeast, dry straw and hay, soft carbonation, medium bodied, more, dry and herbal citrus fruit in the finish. Nice Saison, well-balanced. Bottle from Drinks of the World, Bern.

Hazy golden with a thin, lasting cap of off-white. Aromas of lemon zest, a good amount of grainy malt and a light sweetness. Nice. Flavor is kind of light but enjoyably balanced between the same components as found in the nose. Overall decent, just wish it had a little more oomph.

An absolutely gorgeous pour, crystal clean bright straw yellow with a billowing rocky white head and storm of carbonation. Lightly earthy and funky upfront with a hint of minerality and touch of racked pepper. Some white fruit and floral notes in the aroma as well. Subtle earthy and bready notes in the flavor. Light zesty quality with a very light body and dry palate.

12 ounces bottle from Craft Beer Cabin. Aroma: nice typical saison nose of raw wheat mixed with lemon and floral notes. App: Clear pale with minimal head leaving some lacing. Taste and palate: light to medium body, citrusy, light crisp bitter finish. Overall: This saison is really well done. No, it wont really standout from other saisons. Its just right on the style with no flafla. Pretty good. Exactly how I enjoy my saisons and especially at this price ($2). Great job Allagash.
