To create Victoria Ale, the brewers drew on references to Bucchus, the Thracian god of wine, in the history and artwork of the Victoria Mansion as inspiration for this new beer. One hundred pounds of chardonnay grapes were brought in, crushed on site and added directly to the mash. With a focus on the subtle wine-like character of the grapes, the 9.0% ABV brew boasts a pale copper color, Belgian yeast influence and a medium body with a long finish.

For every bottle of Victoria Ale sold, Allagash Brewing Co. will donate $1 to the restoration of this historic building.

We bottled it in February of '06. 451 cases (6 bottles in each case) were bottled.

"Nice mix of honey and white grape sweetness, and light funk (though more pronounced than Victor). A rare blend of refresher and contemplative sipper. Very nice."

Is there anything better than the Allagash reserves? Just opened a caged and corked 750ml bottle from 2011. Pours a gentle yellow with a thick consistent cloud. Strong ale taste that draws you into the whole bottle. Just another wonderful offering from the great brewers in Portland, Maine. Cheers! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2014 Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a vibrant glowing peach-golden color with a large soapy-foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet golden fruits, wood, must and bubblegum. The flavor was very tangy with bread dough,m ust, wood, bubblegum, strong golden fruits and sugar. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Excellent.

Draft at Julian’s, Providence. Pours a clear straw color, decent amount of head. Aroma citrus/grapes, crisp Brett funk. Body fluffy yet boozy, slightly tart, lingering arch bitterness, maybe honeydew melon sweetness. Interesting enough but not particularly my thing.
