375ml bottle pours murky pale pink red with tiny head. Nose is musty, damp, tart acidic berry and some earthy vinous funk, herbal spice, toast. Taste has toast crust spice, vinous funky berry, medium high acidity, herbal grassy note. Finishes sour, light berry sweeness, round grassy grain, crust, rustic funk. Still nice! after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - FEB 3, 2015
375--corked and baled. Thanks, D! Pours a cloudy medium amber with a loose off-white bubbly head. Beautiful big herbal and mild tart berry nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Great herbal and berry combination on the mid palate, very pleasantly balanced between savory and tart. Crisp finish. ineedbeer (2266) - Oakland, California, USA - AUG 18, 2014
Poured from a 375 ml bottle. Sarlacc83 (2350) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 6, 2014
Aroma is moderately acidic with a nice Brett character. Lots of tropical fruit and cherry pie with a strong barnyard funk and a nice herbal character. Light malt notes and hints of elderberries.
Pours a murky, dull, golden orange with a faint white head that recedes quickly to the edges. No lacing and small legs.
Flavor is very acidic with a nice citrus character of lemon and grapefruit. Nice barnyard character with a lot of earthiness with some light herbal notes. Light oak notes with faint elderberry notes.
Mouthfeel is medium to medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a really nice beer with a nice yeast and bacteria character that approaches gueuze notes. Nice light elderberry character. I had this from the tap when it first came out and this has improved tremendously. Such a nice American sour.
From bottle brought by Todd. Thanks! douglas88 (9688) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 6, 2014
A: Cloudy copper, thin whispy white head. Lacing.
N: Cherry, grapefruit, lemon, straw, earth, spruce, oak, grape, elderberry, dandelions.
T: Sour, touch of bitterness and sweetness.
M: Filling medium mouthfeel. No alcohol. Well carbed.
O: The adjuncts used in this beer make this one quite the sensation. Everything works harmoniously. Reminds me of a Fantome, in a way.
Bottle thanks to Todd. Pours a somewhat cloudy copper color with a small white head. A deep fruity and sawdust nose. Clear berries, oak, tannins, a bit of floral notes, some sourness but almost more funk, vanilla, apricot, sour cherry. Quite smooth and well done. Pretty damn good.

Bottle sample from Jables. Colour...hazy dark gold with no head. Nose..,funky, fruity, sweet and semi acetic. Palate...dry, tart, tannic and spritely with grapey flavours throughout and an acetic lead that permeates. Dried orchard fruits come through the finish and makes for a delightful ending. Very light pale-gold body is mostly clear, with lazy bubbles making their way upwards, sporting a white head that is lightly foamy and moderately well-retained with plentiful lacing.
Very tart nose has some slight herbal notes, touches of mustiness (cobwebs, cellar) and very light maltiness (honey, vanilla, white bread). Even a touch of green apple and black pepper, and certainly no sign of the 9.3 abv.
Tart, seemingly lactic, though that wouldnt make much sense, with bits of band-aid, some floral hop notes and juicy berryskin notes. It’s all forcefully tart and boisterous, with no malt sweetness to get in the way and a spiciness on the finish that shows touches of alcohol, but still quite reserved for its high abv. A bit sharp in texture, with some peppery carbonation and a touch of wateriness, were my only complaints. Otherwise, a fantastic beer, with the typical Allagash restraint shown in using adjuncts.
12.7 oz bottle to taster. Looks good; a hazy orange with white lacing. Smells good too; tart, wild, and fruity. Tastes like it smells with a pleasant mouthfeel. Good beer! swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JAN 22, 2014
