Thanks for the bottle, Meghan! Not sure where she scored this, but I’m extremely grateful!
Poured into a mug, the appearance was a semi-murky brown color with a healthy finger and a half’s worth of eggshell white foamy head. Slow dissipation to leave some light roaming lace.
The aroma had some soft sweet to roasty nuts up front with a sturdy caramel/toffee malt base. Light grassy hops.
The flavor leaned into the nuts at first and then gently allowed the malt base to coincide with the hops very nicely. Mildly sweet aftertaste strolling into the finish in just the same sort of way that I wanted.
The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt low but good. ABV felt as projected by the brewer.
Overall, leave to the English brewer to produce a stellar brown ale well worthy of having again. Now if only American brewers could do something as good as this. ralphdot (1095) - Billingham, Durham, ENGLAND - APR 20, 2017
4.6% brown in colour with a good head, malty aroma and nice malty taste, not bad at all. By the way this beer is only 4.6% not 7.4%. brnandersen (4344) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 31, 2017
